Livestock Budget 2026-27 – Federal and Provincial Budgets
In the budget for the financial year 2026-27, the federal and provincial governments have allocated billions of rupees for the livestock sector. Federal Livestock Budget 2026-27
The federal government has allocated Rs 33.7 billion for the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, of which Rs 22.23 billion is for ongoing expenditure, Rs 7.29 billion for the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Rs 4.18 billion for development programs. These development programs also include Rs 800 million for the National Program for Disease Surveillance, Control and Traceability.

Livestock Budget of Punjab
The Punjab government has allocated a total of Rs 23.78 billion for the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, of which Rs 17.3 billion is for ongoing expenditure while Rs 6.75 billion is for annual development programs. 15 projects have been included in the development programs, including 6 ongoing and 9 new projects.

Among the ongoing projects, Rs 50 million has been allocated for the upgradation of the Vaccine Production Section and Quality Assurance Lab at the Veterinary Research Institute Lahore, Rs 218 million for the Foot and Mouth Disease Control Program in Punjab, Rs 450 million for the Vets and Paravets Internship Program, Rs 1081.5 million for the first phase of the Chief Minister Punjab Herd Transformation Program, Rs 95 million for the digitalization of the Livestock Department and Rs 50 million for the second phase of the rehabilitation of Tollington Market Lahore.

Among the new projects, Rs 50 million has been allocated for the upgradation of the Livestock Production Research Institute in Bahadur Nagar, Okara, Rs 300 million for the Livestock Farmers Training Program and Rs 30 million for payment of dues.
Department of Livestock and Dairy Development Punjab – L&DD Punjab
Under the special initiatives of the Punjab Chief Minister, Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated for mobile veterinary dispensaries, Rs 1 billion for Livestock Card Phase II, Rs 500 million for converting veterinary hospitals into model hospitals at the tehsil level, Rs 461 million for the Dairy Supply Chain Support Project and Rs 1 billion for the livestock provision program for rural women in 12 districts of South Punjab.
Livestock Budget of Balochistan
The Balochistan government has allocated Rs 1.8 billion for the livestock sector in the budget for 2026-27, of which Rs 1 billion has been allocated for development and Rs 80 million for non-developmental expenses. Rs 800 million has been allocated for the establishment of a Veterinary Research Institute and a Vaccine Production Laboratory, while Rs 320 million has been allocated for the establishment of vaccine production facilities at the Center for Advanced Studies in Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CASVAB) of the University of Balochistan.

Livestock Budget of Sindh
The Sindh government has allocated a total of Rs 11.659 billion for the Livestock and Fisheries Department in the budget, out of which Rs 8.467 billion has been specifically allocated for the Animal Husbandry (Livestock) sector. Rs 1.413 billion has been allocated for the development programs of the Livestock and Fisheries Department Sindh.
Under the Accelerated Action Plan for the elimination of malnutrition and stunting in children in the development programs, Rs 1.151 billion has been allocated for the Livestock Program. Rs 338.4 million has been allocated for Sindh Institute of Animal Health Karachi, Rs 170 million for Central Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Sindh, Rs 125.4 million for establishment of vaccine production unit in Tando Jam, Rs 110 million for Sindh Livestock Breeding Services Authority, Rs 62.5 million for strengthening diagnostic facilities for viral and protozoan diseases, Rs 48.9 million for surveillance and diagnosis of avian influenza in poultry, while Rs 23.5 million has been allocated for vaccine training facility in Karachi.

Livestock Budget of KP
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated a total of about Rs 16.9 billion for development and non-development items for the Livestock Department in the budget for 2026-27. Under the annual development program, Rs 4.984 billion has been allocated for the livestock department, while over Rs 12.81 billion has been allocated under the non-development budget for ongoing expenditure and service delivery.
Directorate General Livestock Research – Livestock Department KPK
64 development projects have been included for this sector, including 39 ongoing and 25 new projects. According to the budget documents, Rs 3.1183 billion has been allocated for livestock extension programs, while Rs 5962 million has been allocated for the fisheries sector and Rs 3588 million for livestock research. Rs 15 million has been allocated for a new project of the Veterinary Research Institute and Rs 10 million for a new project of the cooperative sector. These projects include disease control, artificial insemination, veterinary services, breed improvement and dairy development programs.
