Gender Sorted Semen Straws Handed to Livestock Department Sindh by GCLI
Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) has provided the first batch of gender sorted semen straws to the Livestock Department Sindh. The supply of semen to farmers will start in the next few days. After the availibility of Gender Sorted Semen Straws in Sindh, farmers will be able to choose whether they want a male or female before artificial insemination.
Details of Gender Sorted Semen Straws in Sindh
According to details, a delegation consisting of officers of the Directorate of Animal Breeding of the Livestock Department Sindh visited the GCLI farm Okara and received gender sorted semen straws of different breeds. The delegation included Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Sheikh, Dr. Shahzad Thahim, Dr. Zafar Abbas Zardari and Muhammad Aslam Sheikh.

Director Farms, GCLI, Col (R) Imran Masood Khan said that the gender-sorted semen provided to the Livestock Department Sindh includes semen of American Holstein Friesian, Jersey, Sahiwal, Gir and Nellore breeding bulls.
The delegation had a special meeting with the Chairman Green Corporate Livestock Initiative Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood at the GCLI headquarters in Islamabad. Chief Executive Officer GCLI Brigadier (R) Ehtesham Younis and Director Livestock Colonel (R) Abdul Rehman Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
Benefits for Farmers with Availability of Gender Sorted Semen Straws in Sindh
On this occasion, Chairman GCLI said that under the Herd Transformation Drive, gender sorted straws of the best breeds of the world are being provided in Pakistan. The most modern gender sorting lab with the best technology in the world has been established in Okara. He said that the collaboration between GCLI and the Sindh Livestock Department will prove to be an important step towards improving the genetic potential of milk and meat producing animals in Sindh.
Visit of GCLI Facility and Training
The delegation visited the gender sorting lab and the modern IVF lab at the GCLI farm. They also inspected the breeding bulls imported from the US, Australia and Brazil.
The delegation was made aware about modern breeding technology, semen processing, record management and modern methods of breeding. Along with this, training on CASA system for semen analysis was also organized for the delegation in collaboration with the Livestock Department Punjab.
The delegation appreciated the world-class facilities of GCLI and the ongoing activities for Livestock development in Pakistan.
