China Visit attracted livestock investment and ways to exports, says Chairman GCLI
The participation of the Pakistani livestock delegation in the Pak-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference held in China was very successful. During the conference, investment opportunities and business agreements worth more than $ 45 million were secured in the sectors of livestock vaccines, biotechnology, genetic improvement, meat and dairy. During the visit, Pakistan’s livestock sector was effectively presented to Chinese investors and companies, which paved the way for several business partnerships. This development will play an important role in promoting modern technology, livestock investment and livestock exports in Pakistan. These views were expressed by Chairman Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) Major Gen (R) Shahid Mahmood in a special interview.
FMD Vaccine Production Plant
Chairman GCLI said that the leading Chinese company TECON is establishing a modern production plant of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine in Karachi in collaboration with Pakistani company Technoman Kinetics. The project is fully supported by GCLI. During a recent visit to China, the company’s Research and Development Center was visited. On this occasion, it was agreed to implement the stipulated timeline and start laboratory and field trials of the vaccine from July 2026. This project will make Pakistan self-sufficient in the production of quality vaccines at the local level, while also significantly improving the effective control of foot-and-mouth disease and the availability of vaccines.
Chinese Interest in Buffalo Genetics and Livestock Products
Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood said that Chinese companies have also shown special interest in gender-sorted semen straws of Pakistani buffaloes. Preliminary negotiations have begun with the Chinese company Royal Seal Group in this regard. He added that Chinese investors are also keenly interested in meat, buffalo milk, camel milk and other value-added livestock products. Several business linkages have been established in this regard, which will create new export opportunities in the future.
