PAFDA signed MOU with Gain
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to promote joint efforts in the areas of food safety, nutrition and sustainable food systems in Pakistan. Director General PAFDA Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Country Director Gen Farah Naz signed the agreement.
Details of PAFDA and GAIN MOU
Under the agreement, both institutions will conduct joint research on nutrition labeling, food fortification and biofortification and the interrelationship between food safety, food security and nutrition. Along with this, work will also be done on emerging topics such as climate change, food and nutrition interrelationships.
A key aspect of this partnership is the development and use of data systems and food system dashboards, through which evidence-based policymaking and better decision-making will be promoted. Both institutions will also work on communication to increase public awareness and promote healthy eating habits. The agreement will also provide a strong framework for joint research, knowledge content development and engagement with stakeholders, which will contribute to improving the food system at the national and global levels.

In line with PAFDA’s vision of “protecting health, enabling trade, and driving innovation” and Vision 2035, this partnership will play a significant role in integrating nutrition into regulatory science and further strengthening Pakistan’s food system through data-driven decisions.
