The three-day International Poultry Expo 2026 held in Lahore
The three-day International Poultry Expo 2026 (IPEX 2026) was held at the Expo Centre Lahore under the auspices of the Pakistan Poultry Association. Held from October 8 to 10, the exhibition saw a large turnout of domestic and international companies, experts, researchers, farmers, veterinary professionals, students, investors, and figures from various sectors associated with the poultry industry.
Domestic and international companies representing sectors such as poultry feed, feed additives, veterinary medicines, vaccines, breeding, hatchery technology, modern farm equipment, machinery, automation, ventilation, biosecurity, and processing set up their stalls at the expo.
Dignitaries at International Poultry Expo 2026
Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Industries and Production, attended the opening ceremony on the first day of the expo. Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain also paid a special visit to the exhibition. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, attended the event on the second day. Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb was the chief guest at the expo’s closing ceremony.
International Poultry Expo 2026: IPEX 2026 Kicks Off

Issues of Poultry Sector Highlighted
On this occasion, while highlighting the taxes and other issues facing the poultry sector, it was stated that taxes imposed on day-old chicks and raw meat are placing an additional burden on the industry. They demanded the abolition of unnecessary taxes levied on the poultry sector.

Federal Finance Minister at International Poultry Expo 2026
The Federal Finance Minister stated that Pakistan is the 11th largest poultry-producing country in the world. The question now is how to break into the top 10 global poultry producers and subsequently reach the fifth position. Brotherly GCC nations represent potential markets for Pakistani products, while new opportunities are also emerging in Central Asia—specifically Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—as well as in Southeast Asia. He added that the concerns raised by the poultry sector regarding tax policy would be reviewed.
To boost exports, there is a need to focus on disease prevention, reduce poultry feed and other production costs, and improve processing facilities and the cold chain system.
Advisor to PM at International Poultry Expo 2026
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of IPEX 2026, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister, stated that Pakistan’s poultry industry should establish a foothold in global markets while meeting domestic needs; an effective export strategy is essential for this purpose. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring the uninterrupted availability of feed and other vital raw materials for the industry.
Decisions regarding the import of soybeans and other essential raw materials must be made based on clear requirements and within a defined timeframe. A practical roadmap for exports will be formulated in collaboration with the Pakistan Poultry Association, clearly outlining priority markets, necessary approvals, production capacity, and relevant responsibilities.
Poultry Science Conference and Other Activities
A poultry science conference was held on the first day of the IPEX 2026. On the second day, a special interactive session was organized to highlight the nutritional value of poultry products and their role in a balanced diet.
A large number of social and journalistic figures attended the session, including prominent anchors Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Ajmal Jami, Zohaib Butt, and Haroon Rafiq; poet Dr. Tahir Shaheer; actress Seemi Raheel; and motivational speaker Qasim Ali Shah. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (DG, Punjab Food, Agriculture, and Drug Authority), Professor Dr. Masood Rabbani (Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore), and other food and poultry experts also participated in the event.

A quiz competition for students was also organized on the second day. Additionally, a special activity was held at the expo to mark World Egg Day. Speakers highlighted the importance of eggs in a healthy diet, describing them as a vital source of high-quality protein, vitamins, and other essential nutrients. At the Poultry Science Conference, experts from both within the country and abroad presented their research on various topics.

Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif served as the Chairman of Poultry Expo 2026, with Dr. Sajjad Arshad as Chief Organizer and Shafiq Ahmed as Secretary. Dr. Mustafa Kamal served as the Convener of the Interactive Session Committee, while Dr. Hanif Nazir Chaudhry was the Convener for the Technical Sessions and Poultry Science Conference.

Malik Muhammad Sajid Awan was entrusted with the responsibility of the Registration Committee. Dr. Mazhar Iqbal served as the Convener of the Souvenir Committee; Basharat Khaliq and Sohail Ahmed were Conveners for the Branding and Banner Display Committee; Adeel Ghafoor Khokhar was the Convener for Guest Arrangements; and Shahid Raza served as the Convener of the National Print and Electronic Media Committee. The team was commended for successfully organizing the Poultry Expo.
