The Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab has further intensified its relief and veterinary activities in the drought and heat wave affected areas of South Punjab to support livestock farmers facing extreme weather conditions. Through special heat wave and drought relief activities for livestock, mobile veterinary dispensaries, and dedicated field teams, the department is ensuring timely treatment, vaccination, medicines, mineral supplements, and technical guidance for livestock to minimize the impact of severe heat stress and prolonged drought.
Veterinary Relief Camps and Mobile Services Expanded
According to information released by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, veterinary experts and field staff are continuously providing essential animal healthcare services. Relief camps established across the affected regions of South Punjab are conducting Heat Wave and Drought Relief Activities for livestock.

To strengthen emergency response efforts, the department has established more than 24 mobile veterinary camps, while 36 special veterinary teams are actively serving livestock farmers in the drought-affected areas. These teams are providing on-site treatment, preventive healthcare, vaccination services, and technical assistance to help protect livestock during the ongoing climate crisis.
Reviews of Heat Wave and Drought Relief Activities
Director General (Extension) Punjab Dr. Syed Nadeem Badar visited the heat wave and drought relief camps established at Chowk Farwa and Khatri Bangla in Tehsil Yazman, District Bahawalpur.
During his visit, he reviewed the facilities available for animal treatment, the availability of medicines and vaccines, the performance of veterinary staff, and the overall arrangements at the relief camps. He also inspected the arrangements made for the movement of livestock from Cholistan and visited the Civil Veterinary Dispensary Khatri Bangla, where concerned officers briefed him on the ongoing relief operations.
On the occasion, the Director General (Extension) issued necessary instructions to ensure the provision of timely and high-quality veterinary services to livestock farmers and appreciated the dedication and efforts of the field staff working in challenging conditions.

To reduce the impact of heat stress on livestock, the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab has advised farmers to adopt the following preventive measures:
- Keep animals in shaded areas.
- Ensure the continuous availability of clean and cool drinking water.
