Pakistan’s livestock sector is moving toward a new phase of international cooperation as Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired a high-level meeting with a Chinese delegation to discuss enhanced bilateral collaboration in livestock development. The meeting focused on buffalo embryo exports, livestock genetics, dairy breed promotion, biotechnology partnerships, and export expansion.
Senior officials, technical experts, representatives from the Animal Quarantine Department, and Chinese biotechnology companies participated in the meeting, reflecting growing international interest in Pakistan’s dairy genetics.

Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi emphasized the need for an internationally compliant framework for the export of livestock biological material. He highlighted the proposed Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) as an important step to ensure transparency, protect Pakistan’s genetic ownership rights, and promote sustainable international collaboration.
