The Sindh Livestock Breeding Services Authority (LBSA Sindh) was established under the Sindh Livestock Breeding Act 2016. The mission of this authority is to regulate and elevate livestock breeding practices in Sindh. The Purpose and Goals of LBSA Sindh

The primary objective of LBSA is to enhance the quality of livestock in Sindh through modern breeding services and best practices. The organization focuses on genetic improvement, sustainability, and protecting the biodiversity of indigenous breeds. By introducing advanced technologies like artificial insemination (AI) and embryo transfer, LBSA focuses on livestock performance and productivity. Key Functions of LBSA Sindh

These include regulating livestock breeding services, licensing livestock farms, and registering AI practitioners, companies, and training centers. Standards and procedures for breeding animals under the Sindh Livestock Breeding Act 2016 are issued to ensure compliance and excellence. Furthermore, the authority is responsible for parentage verification of breeding males and the registration of breeders’ associations. LBSA also maintains performance records of animals to identify bull mothers and implement genetic evaluation programs.

One of LBSA’s critical objectives is the conservation and propagation of Sindh’s indigenous breeds. These include the Thari, Kankrej, and Red Sindhi cattle breeds, as well as the Kamori and Pateri goat breeds and the Kundhi buffalo. By fostering breeding associations for each of these breeds, LBSA aims to preserve their unique genetic characteristics and promote sustainable livestock practices.
