The Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences University of Poonch Rawalakot is the pioneer veterinary education institute in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It offers a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine DVM Degree along with other undergraduate programs. Besides veterinary education, the Faculty is also playing its role in the livestock community by providing veterinary services in Poonch and Rawalakot. Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences
The Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences forms the foundation of veterinary education. It covers the disciplines like Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, and Pharmacology. This department equips students with essential knowledge and skills in basic subjects of veterinary sciences. These subjects strengthen the base of veterinary students through hands-on training and education for clinical and applied subjects of veterinary sciences.
Department of Pathobiology
The Department of Pathobiology covers Pathology, Microbiology, and Parasitology sections. Pathology covers the study of diseases, their mechanism, and diagnosis which strengthen the backbone of veterinary students. The department educates and trains the students through its laboratories. Microbiology and Parasitology Labs are also equipped with the basic requirements for the training of the students. Overall this department strengthens the students in the field of Microbiology, Parasitology, and Pathology based diagnosis and studies.
Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences
This department is the core of the faculty and educates and trains students to strengthen their clinical skills. The department covers Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, and Theriogenology. It focuses on animal treatment, diagnosis, surgery, and reproduction-related issues.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM Degree)
The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine DVM program is the flagship program of this faculty at the University of Poonch Rawalakot. It is designed to produce skilled veterinarians for animal health and animal management. Students are trained and educated through hands-on experience in animal disease diagnosis, laboratory analyses, treatment of diseases, and assisted reproductive techniques.
