This is the first animal to be infected with the virus and to test positive for Covid-19. According to an international broadcaster, this was confirmed by the UK’s chief veterinary doctor. In the past, the British government had said that there was no solid evidence that animals can spread the coronavirus to humans or other animals. The government advised pet owners not to worry about this. However, on Wednesday, a pet cat tested positive.

England’s Department of Health has issued instructions to people to wash their hands before and after being near animals. The chief veterinary doctor said that this is a rare event. The infected animal has shown clinical symptoms and will recover within a few days. There is no evidence that pets can infect humans with the virus.
