Ceremony held to launch Livestock Feedstuffs Database

Livestock Feedstuffs Database launched for ration formulation for animals. This Data of animal feedstuff published. This contains the nutritional value of animal feed ingredients. This is a research-based database of Dairy feed ingredients and livestock ingredients by AMD Project. This Animal Nutrition Book is helpful for dairy feed formulation and animal feed formulation.

Livestock and Dairy Development Board (LDB) in collaboration with USAID Pakistan and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS) has published a booklet titled “Strategic Guide to Ration Formulation” for livestock farm operators. The virtual launch of the booklet was held at the LDB Headquarters.

The event was attended by Dr. Fatehullah Khan, Chief Executive Officer, LDB, Akmal Guruwala, Director, USAID Livestock Livelihood Project, and Dr. Khurshid Ahmed, Animal Husbandry Commissioner. Addressing the launch ceremony, Dr. Fatehullah said that the creation of the Pakistan Feedstuffs Database will provide alternative feed ingredients to the livestock industry. There is a need to further strengthen the collaboration between USAID Pakistan, other international agencies and the LDB in the livestock sector of Pakistan to further improve the strategic livelihood program of the livestock sector.

Addressing the event, Animal Husbandry Commissioner Dr. Khurshid Ahmed said that the government of Pakistan is working on the vision of “Image Farmers” for livestock projects. Pakistan needs to reduce import dependency of poultry and livestock so that the scope of livestock production in the country can be expanded.

The event was attended by senior officers of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, producer farmers, public and private sectors, feed manufacturers and a large number of people from livestock-related sectors through video link. Pakistan Feed Stuffs is the first comprehensive research after the seventies that contains information on the production of high-quality, affordable and standard feed from locally available raw materials.
