Sindh CM Opens Modern Veterinary Facilities at SIAH

 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated modern Veterinary facilities at the Sindh Institute of Animal Health (SIAH), Korangi. However, this project was completed for Rs 631.798 million. The veterinary facilities at SIAH include a modern Pets Hospital, Diagnostic and Research Complex, Academic and Administrative Block, advanced laboratories, post-mortem facilities, and motorcycles for field veterinary services. The government launched the project in December 2022 and completed it in June 2026.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah said the project marks an important milestone for veterinary healthcare, disease surveillance, scientific research, and livestock development in Sindh.

He said millions of families in Sindh depend on livestock for their livelihoods. Therefore, the sector plays a vital role in the province’s economy, food security, employment, and rural development.

The Chief Minister also visited the newly established Pets Hospital, Diagnostic and Research Complex, and Academic and Administrative Block.

Advanced Laboratories Strengthen Animal Health Services

According to officials, the new laboratories offer advanced facilities for scientific research and disease diagnosis.

The facilities include microbiological and chemical testing of milk and dairy products, parasitology, hepatology, and food safety research.

Furthermore, the upgraded infrastructure will strengthen disease diagnosis and surveillance. It will also support research aimed at improving animal health and protecting livestock production.

Sindh Institute of Animal Health SIAH Expands Vaccine Production Capacity

Officials told the Chief Minister that the Sindh Institute of Animal Health is Pakistan’s first dedicated One Health institution. The institute follows an integrated approach that links animal, human, and environmental health.

Moreover, the institute has the capacity to produce more than 250 million vaccine doses annually. It also develops vaccines against 75 diseases affecting different animal species.

This expanded capacity will help Sindh improve disease prevention and strengthen its livestock health system.

150 Motorcycles Provided for Field Veterinary Services

Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani said the government had provided 150 motorcycles to veterinary staff for field services.

The motorcycles will help veterinary teams reach livestock farmers in remote areas. As a result, farmers will receive treatment, disease surveillance, and veterinary advice at their doorsteps.

The minister said the new facilities would also support the conservation of valuable local breeds, including the Red Sindhi cattle and Kundhi buffalo.

In addition, better disease control will help reduce the economic losses caused by livestock diseases.

Government Plans Further Livestock Sector Improvements

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his commitment to further expanding veterinary services, disease surveillance, diagnostic laboratories, and vaccine production.

He said the Sindh government would continue taking practical steps to develop a modern, competitive, and sustainable livestock economy.

Meanwhile, livestock and veterinary experts have welcomed the initiative. They believe the upgraded veterinary facilities at SIAH will strengthen animal healthcare, scientific research, disease control, and livestock productivity across Sindh.
