GCLI Signed MOU with Livestock Department Sindh to provide Gender Sorted Straws to the livestock farmers in Sindh

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Livestock and Fisheries Sindh and the Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI).  This GCLI MOU with Livestock Department Sindh is  to provide gender sorted straws to livestock farmers in Sindh under the Herd Transformation Program.

Details of GCLI MOU with Livestock Department Sindh

Under the agreement, the Livestock Department, in collaboration with GCLI, will provide special artificial insemination straws for the targeted birth of male and female calves. The use of this modern technology will significantly increase milk and meat production. It will help the country earn valuable foreign exchange through exports.

The agreement was signed by Brig (R) Ehtesham Younis, CEO of GCLI, while Dr. Jamaluddin Junejo, Director Animal Breeding, Livestock Department. Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Sindh Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Director Projects Sindh Brig Tohidullah and CFO GCLI Sarmad Ali were specially graced the ceremony.

On this occasion, Director General Livestock Sindh Dr. Hizbullah Bhutto, Deputy Secretary Staff Muhammad Imran, Director General Livestock Farms and Extension Dr. Mubarak Jatoi, Registrar Livestock Breeding Authority Dr. Iqtada Memon, Deputy Secretary Livestock Abdul Baqi, Dr. Abdul Manan Khokhar and other officers were also present.

 

Significance of GCLI MOU with Livestock Department Sindh

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Kazim Hussain Jatoi said that due to the special interest of Provincial Minister for Livestock Muhammad Ali Malkani, a great opportunity has been created for the livestock farmers of Sindh, which will lead them towards prosperity. This program will play an important role in the stability of the national economy.

 

Initiatives of GCLI

On this occasion, CEO GCLI Brigadier (R) Ehtesham Younis said that GCLI has established a gender sorting lab in Okara with the best technology in the world. Under the National Herd Transformation program, straws of Red Sindhi, Kandi, Sahiwal, Bhagnari and other local breeds are being provided.

In addition, supply of gender sorted straws of high-quality breeding bulls imported from the United States, Brazil and Australia is also ongoing. These include Friesian, Jersey, Nellore, Angus, Brayford, Brahman, Shar-e-Bray, Gir and Girolindo breeds of cattle. The Total Performance Index (TPI) of Friesian bulls imported from the US is more than 3200.

He said that these measures will improve the genetic potential of milk and meat animals and increase production. This will not only make farmers prosperous but will also have a positive impact on the country’s economy.
