Dr. Khurshid Ahmed appointed as DG NVL
Dr. Khurshid Ahmed has been appointed as DG NVL Islamabad. He is the Principal Scientific Officer at the National Veterinary Laboratory. He also served as Animal Husbandry Commissioner of Pakistan. Besides this, He also served at the post of Director Animal Quarantine Department. After completing his DVM. Dr. Khurshid got MPhil Degree from the Royal Veterinary College London. Moreover, his post-graduation was in the field of Microbiology. Before joining the National Veterinary Lab, he also served at Poultry Research Institute Rawalpindi.

National Veterinary Laboratory is the department of Ministry of National Food Security & Research. Morevoer, it is the Federal Veterinary Diagnostic and Testing Lab. Besides disease diagnostics, it provides the services of vaccine quality control. For Export and other purposes, it has the facilities of toxin analysis of livestock products. Moreover, it is the National Reference Lab for Transboundary Animal Diseases. It works for the control and eradication of livestock diseases in collaboration with other departments. Furthermore, it also trains the other veterinary laboratories in the country. Its primary function is Animal Disease Surveillance and control. Moreover, it coordinates the national and international organizations in disease control and surveillance.
