CM appreciated the Livestock Department Punjab for Livestock Rescue and Flood Relief Activities

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has appreciated the performance of the Livestock Department Punjab in the flood situation. The Chief Minister, while appreciating the performance of the Livestock Department in rescue and relief activities, said that more than 450,000 animals have been rescued so far. This livestock rescue means securing the livelihood of millions of people.

The Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide rafts to transport livestock to safe places in the districts potentially affected by the flood. The Chief Minister also directed the provision of fodder. Along with this, steps were also directed to provide lost and abandoned animals to their owners.

Rescue and Relief activities of the Punjab Livestock Department are going on in full swing. Secretary Livestock Ahmed Aziz Tarar says that the department stands with the people and farmers in difficult times because animals are a valuable asset of the farmers. Their safety and provision of food is the top priority of the department.

Livestock Rescue and Relief Activities

According to the spokesperson of the Livestock Department Punjab, 425 flood relief camps and 146 mobile veterinary dispensaries have been set up in the flood-affected districts of the province, where more than 2,653 field staff are busy treating, vaccinating and caring for animals day and night. Emergency medicines, vaccines and animal feed are available in sufficient quantities in the campus and mobile veterinary dispensaries, while temporary shelters have also been set up for homeless livestock.

According to the details released by the Livestock Department, treatment of 10,56,962 animals and vaccination of 31,671,351 animals have been completed. Millions more animals have been saved. Along with this, 155 animal deaths have been reported so far. On the other hand, 45,748 kg of Vanda is available at the facility centers by the department and 94,500 kg of Vanda has been provided through the Deputy Commissioners.

 

Supervision of Relief Activities

The relief activities are being directly supervised by senior officers. Additional Secretary Admin Muhammad Zubair has been assigned to Lahore and Kasur, CEO PEMCO Sanaullah to Jhang and Chiniot, Additional Secretary Technical Usman Tahir to Toba Tek Singh and Jhang, Deputy Secretary Admin Anwar Ali Kanjo to Sialkot, Deputy Secretary Abdul Ghaffar to Okara, Deputy Secretary Dr. Mudassar Nadeem to Sargodha, Deputy Secretary Planning Amna Sharjeel to Lahore, Additional Director Dr. Tahir Ismail to Gujranwala, Additional Director Dr. Rashid Munir to Hafizabad, while Director Breed Improvement Dr. Sajid Iqbal has been assigned to Narowal district.
