CDFA Demands Immediate Approval for Vaccine amid FMD Serotype SAT-1 Alert
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research has issued an alert regarding Foot and Mouth Disease FMD serotype SAT-1 in Pakistan. In this regard, the FAO is describing the first three months of the year as very sensitive. CDFA has demanded immediate approval for FMD Vaccine – ARRIAH FMD QUAD Vaccine.
In this context, the Corporate Dairy Farmers Association (CDFA) has requested the Animal Husbandry Commissioner and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to register the vaccine immediately in view of the threat of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) serotype SAT-1.
According to the CDFA, the Ministry of National Food Security’s disease alert and the FAO report have warned that the SAT-1 virus is highly likely to enter Pakistan by the beginning of February 2026. According to experts, this type of virus is more dangerous, which can cause 15 to 20 percent mortality in adult cows, up to 90 percent mortality in calves and a severe decrease in milk production.
