Secretary Livestock KPK Called on Chairman GCLI, showed interest in Yak Farming in Chitral, Sexed Semen and other projects

Secretary Livestock KPK Zarif Ul Maani visited the head office of Green Corporate Livestock Initiative and had a special meeting with Chairman GCLI Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood. Discussed yak farming in Chitral, Sexed Semen, GRIDD and other projects.

The Director Generals of Livestock Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also present. An important meeting was held on this occasion in which Chairman GCLI informed about the objectives of the organization, ongoing initiatives and progress made in different provinces.

Stressing the importance of genetic improvement in terms of herd transformation, Chairman GCLI gave a briefing on the Sexed Semen Lab and Embryo Transfer Lab established in Okara. A model farm project was also discussed through investors for the improvement of government farms and it was agreed to accelerate the process of private investment in farms.

On this occasion, various models of financing of the livestock sector through banking facilities were also discussed. Further, cooperation in the field of livestock traceability and vaccine production was also agreed. Green Corporate Livestock Initiative appreciated the expansion of GRIDD program in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to fifteen districts and recommended its further improvement and expansion.

On this occasion, Secretary Livestock Zarif Ul Maani expressed interest in starting yak farming in Chitral on the model of Gilgit-Baltistan and requested for technical assistance. Secretary Livestock Zarif Ul Maani appreciated the herd transformation project and also expressed his desire to visit the Sexed Semen Lab, Okara. He appreciated the efforts of GCLI for the promotion of livestock in Pakistan and assured full cooperation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chairman GCLI Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood thanked the delegation for their visit.
