Dr. Bushra Allah Rakha awarded by Society for Cryobiology for her research activities
The Society for Cryobiology announced the award in recognition of the research work of Dr. Bushraullah Rakha, Assistant Professor, Department of Wildlife Management, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Aired Agriculture University Rawalpindi. Dr. Bushra received the Dayong Gao Young Investigator Award for the year 2020 based on her research work in the field of cryobiology.
Dr. Bushra Allah Rakha started her career as a conservation biologist in 2005 and worked on the cryopreservation of semen, focusing on the field of cryobiology. The focus of her research was wildlife conservation. Dr. Bushra’s research aims to improve sperm sexing protocols as well as work on long-term preservation of genetic material through in vitro research.
Dr. Bushra also conducted research on improving freezing protocols for livestock semen. Currently, she is working on sperm sexing, DNA medium homology markers, frost resistant (anti-freezing) proteins,
Bushra joined the Wildlife Management Department of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Aired Agriculture University in 2007 and is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the department. She worked on wildlife sperm banking as a cryobiologist. Her post-graduation research was on sperm banking of the Arial. She has also worked on Red Junglefowl while working on (protectants).
Currently, Dr. Bushra Allah Rakha is working on sperm cryobanking of the Brown-backed Pheasant. Overall, Dr. Bushraullah Rakha has written several research papers and articles and is also a member of the editorial boards of journals. Regarding research, she is currently working on two research projects. She has also received various national and international research grants, funding and awards.
