Former President Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC) Professor Dr. Masood Rabbani has accomplished another feat while leaving PVMC. In the last days of his tenure, the alleged fake Riphah Veterinary College was allegedly given temporary approval. Riphah International University does not have a campus in Multan, but temporary accreditation was given to Riphah Veterinary College. Earlier, the controversial accreditation of a private veterinary college is also attributed to Professor Masood Rabbani.
The Registrar of Riphah International University has confirmed that Riphah International University does not currently have a campus in Multan. The Registrar of Riphah University said that his institution was of the opinion that a campus should be opened in Multan and in this regard, on September 23, 2022, it wrote to the Higher Education Commission for approval of a sub-campus in Multan, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the decision on the sub-campus in Multan was temporarily postponed and the case was immediately withdrawn.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council committee allegedly conducted a zero visit to Riphah Veterinary College Multan on September 4, 2022. Ten days later, on September 14, a visit was allegedly conducted and the council also gave temporary approval to Riphah Veterinary College for two years after this visit. On the other hand, according to the registrar of Riphah International University, no application had been submitted to the Higher Education Department for the Riphah University Multan campus till then.
Primarily, this alleged forgery was done using the name of a world-class Pakistani institution like Riphah International University. Prima facie, the dean of Riphah Veterinary College Lahore started the process for accreditation of Riphah Veterinary College Multan without informing the registrar of Riphah International University.
The Registrar Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council has allegedly written to the Registrar Riphah International University that when Rifa University does not have a campus in Multan, then how was the Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Rifa Veterinary College Lahore keeping the Registrar Rifa International University in the dark about how the PVMC was approached for the accreditation process of Rifa Veterinary College Multan and how the fees for the visit were paid? The Registrar Rifa International University has been demanded to take action against the Dean Riphah Veterinary College Lahore.
On the other hand, the Registrar Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council has written that an advertisement will be issued in newspapers regarding Riphah Veterinary College Multan to make parents aware.
