WPSA Student Symposium on Career Counselling held at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot

The World Poultry Science Association Pakistan Branch (WPSA Pakistan Branch North Zone) organized a WPSA Student Symposium on technical and career counselling for the students of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot.

The symposium was attended by General Secretary WPSA Pakistan, Dr. Farhan Farooq, Dr. Asif Javed from EW Nutrition, Dr. Nasir Mukhtar from Aird Agriculture University, Dr. Junaid Haider from High Weight Animal Health Business and others. Registrar University of Poonch Rawalakot Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Khan attended the symposium as the chief guest. He termed equipping students with modern skills and partnering with professional institutions as the vision of the university.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed emphasized the importance of aligning education with market needs and strengthening industry-university linkages on this occasion.

WPSA Student Symposium Messages and Talks

Messages from the leadership of WPSA were also delivered at the event. Dr. Farhan Farooq delivered the message of President WPSA Pakistan, Mian Sohaib Javaid, while Dr. Nasir Mukhtar delivered the message of President WPSA North Zone Haseeb Akram. Both leaders expressed their commitment to empower students, promote innovation and strengthen Pakistan’s poultry sector through global cooperation.

Technical and professional sessions were also held in the symposium. Dr. Farhan Farooq highlighted the mission and activities of World Poultry Science Association Pakistan as well as the effective management of broiler and parent stock.

Book on Career Counselling in Veterinary and Animal Sciences 

Dr. Asif Javed delivered a lecture on international job interviews and cultural compatibility on the occasion. Dr. Nasir Mukhtar spoke about international scholarships and access to global opportunities while Dr. Junaid Haider highlighted various aspects of livestock and poultry vaccines in Pakistan. These sessions provided valuable guidance to the students and prepared them for success in the professional field.

MOU and WPSA Scholarship

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the University of Poonch Rawalakot and World Poultry Science Association Pakistan – WPSA Pakistan at the event.

Professor Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr. Farhan Farooq, Dr. Nasir Mukhtar, and Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Khan signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Under this agreement, it was agreed to promote joint research, training, exchange of students and promotion of linkages between industry and university. On this occasion, Dr. Farhan Farooq also announced the launch of the WPSA Scholarship Program for the best students of Poultry and Animal Sciences, which was termed as a positive step to enhance the research and educational capabilities of the students. In the closing session, Dr. Imran Ahmed thanked all the guests.
