PAFDA observed World Food Day 2025
The Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) organized a ceremony to mark World Food Day 2025. The function was held at PAFDA Headquarters, Lahore. PAFDA experts and officers participated and reiterated their commitment to food safety and nutrition security.
Importance of World Food Day 2025
The importance of World Food Day and its global perspective were highlighted on the occasion. This year, the day is being celebrated on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The theme of the day is “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future”. This theme highlights the aspect that the continuous supply of safe, nutritious, and environmentally friendly food is a common responsibility of all of us. A short informative video prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was also shown. This video highlighted the efforts being made to improve safe food systems around the world.
Role of PAFDA in Food Safety and Food Security
In the Food Testing Laboratory Awareness Session, PAFDA scientists highlighted the role of the organization in promoting a transparent, scientific and standard food testing system across Punjab.
On this occasion, Member Food said in his address that impartial testing and implementation of standards based on scientific grounds are the foundation of public trust and credibility of the regulatory system.

In his address, Director General Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha reiterated the organization’s commitment to monitoring public health and food on purely scientific grounds.
Message on World Food Day 2025
Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha, Director General Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority, in his message, said that on the occasion of World Food Day and the 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, PAFDA reiterates its commitment that we will join hands with farmers, industry, consumers and research institutions to establish a safe, fair and sustainable food system. Food is a fundamental human right. Our mission is to ensure food safety through scientific evidence, reliable laboratories and strong standards. Public trust is earned through transparency, accountability and impartial testing. Together we must work for better food and a better future.

Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority reiterated its commitment to continue playing its role as a trusted scientific institution for the protection of public health and food quality in Punjab. The institution is modernizing its laboratories and systems as per international standards to ensure food safety, transparency and quality regulations.
The event concluded with a cake cutting ceremony and an awareness walk, in which the participants expressed their collective commitment to promote safe food and food security.
