Livestock Department Gilgit Baltistan observed World AMR Awareness Week 2023. Skardu Veterinary Hospital organized an awareness session. Furthermore, Veterinary Hospital Gilgit also arranged a ceremony. In addition to this, Local FM organized a panel discussion. Discussion on TV Program was also the part.

What is meant by AMR?

Doctors prescribe different types of antibiotics as well as other antimicrobial agents. These medicines work against different disease-causing agents. These agents include bacteria, viruses, and fungi. When these medicines stop affecting these agents, we call it AMR. Furthermore, AMR means antimicrobial resistance. However, due to AMR, medicine will not work.

What is AMR Awareness?

What is meant by AMR? AMR Awareness focuses on the dissemination of Messages. This campaign sensitizes medical professionals to prescribe antimicrobial agents judiciously. Furthermore, public awareness is also important. People should not use antibiotics without a doctor’s recommendation. Besides medical professionals, this awareness also calls the veterinary doctors. They should use antibiotics at a minimum for animals.

World AMR Awareness Week 2023

WHO calls World AMR Awareness Week. World observes it every year on 18-24 November. During this week, different stakeholders conduct different activities. The purpose of this week is to raise awareness regarding AMR. Seminars, workshops, public interactions, and awareness walks are routine activities. Furthermore, school activities and hospital activities are also the part.

World AMR Awareness Week Theme 2023

World AMR Awareness Week theme 2023 is “preventing antimicrobial resistance together”. We can not limit AMR to human beings only. Animals as well as the environment is also affected. These three also affect each other. However, we should take AMR awareness under one health.
