Dr. Arslan Ali gave recommendations for successful dairy farming. He also discussed guidelines for dairy farming at commercial and corporate Levels.

Dr. Arslan Ali says that the successful future of dairy farming in Pakistan depends on the selection of correct genetics. Dairy farmers should analyze their animals’ performance and problems before selecting genetics. They should select correct genetics in the light of expert guidelines based on the problems of animals. Along with low yield, low quality, mastitis, lameness, and various other problems, farmers face. Moreover, farmers also face animal breeding and reproduction problems. The solution is to avoid these problems in the future. On the other hand, the best option for this is the selection of the right genetics in consultation with experts.

Successful Dairy Farming and Animal Selection

While discussing the guidelines for dairy farming, Dr Arsalan added that Australian Holstein Friesian is the best choice for Pakistan. The performance record of this generation is before us. Besides this, local experts also have extensive experience with these animals. He said that almost all corporate forms in Pakistan started with this breed. Moreover, as the farm sustains, it may shift to American and Dutch cows for further improvement of the farm.

Guidelines for Dairy Farming Regarding Calf Management

Dr. Arslan Ali said that farmers often neglect calves, especially in feeding. Special care must be taken in the feeding and care of calves. Furthermore, he said that calf milk replacer is common in developed countries. Dairy farmers in Pakistan should also include calf milk replacer as part of the calf’s diet. Furthermore, farmers should give attention to other aspects of calf feeding and overall care. Importantly, if the calf remains weak, it will not be a good cow in the future.

Dr. Arsalan has been serving in the dairy sector for the last eleven years. He held important positions at Profarm Pakistan and Cattle Kit. He has a keen eye on the ups and downs of the dairy sector in Pakistan. Moreover, he has extensive experience in dairy input marketing and dairy services.

Dr. Arslan Ali obtained his DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree from Islamia University Bahawalpur. Besides this, he obtained an Executive Certificate in Agribusiness Management from LUMS. LUMS is Lahore University of Management Sciences.
