Livestock Task Force at Naitonal Level
DCFA Pakistan demands real stakeholders in Livestock Task Force. Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has formed a Livestock Task Force. The purpose of the formation of this task force is to prepare a national action plan for the improvement of the livestock sector.
Objectives of Livestock Task Force
The task force will prepare short-term, medium-term and long-term plans for the improvement of the livestock sector. A roadmap will also be prepared to adapt the livestock sector to international standards.
The task force will prepare its plan in two weeks, while the Prime Minister will be briefed after every fortnight.
The meeting of the task force has been called for June 28.
Composition of Task Force
The task force has been formed under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema. The members include the Federal Secretary National Food Security and Research, Provincial Ministers for Livestock and Provincial Secretary for Livestock, as well as the Vice Chancellor Veterinary University Lahore, Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Veterinary University Skrand, Dean Animal Husbandry Peshawar Agriculture University, Dean Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lasbela University, Chief Executive Sindh Livestock Farms Jamil Memon, Professor Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, Founder K&Ns Khalil Sattar, Progressive Farmer Haji Aziz Ahmed and President Livestock Farmers Welfare Association Asif Awan. The task force may also include more members and experts.

Demands of DCFA Pakistan
President Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association Pakistan Shakir Umar Gujjar has written a letter to Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and demanded that genuine stakeholders be included in the task force.
The letter appreciated the efforts made by the Prime Minister of Pakistan to improve the economic situation and expressed hope that Pakistan would soon come out of the difficult situation.
Appreciating the formation of the Task Force for the Livestock Sector, the letter said that for the improvement of the livestock sector, it is necessary to include important and real stakeholders in the consultation. The letter drew the attention of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the fact that real stakeholders as well as well-performing officers were not included in this task force.
Recommendations by DCFA Pakistan
Shakir Umar Gujjar has recommended to the Prime Minister of Pakistan that the Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Director Generals of Provincial Livestock Departments, Director General of National Veterinary Laboratory, Member Animal Sciences of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and representatives of active farmers associations from across the country be included in the Livestock Task Force.
Shakir Umar Gujjar further said that if the relevant stakeholders and officers are included in this task force, they can play a great role and with the improvement in the livestock sector, the prices of meat, milk and animal and milk by-products can be reduced and brought within the reach of the common man.
The letter has expressed concern that if there is no real representation in the task force, positive results will not be achieved and like foot-and-mouth disease, the rising prices of livestock products will also become a big challenge for Pakistan.
The letter from the President of the Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association Pakistan, Shakir Umar Gujjar, has also demanded the establishment of a vaccine plant at the local level to prevent foot-and-mouth disease.
