Came Competition at UAF on World Camel Day
Came Competition | Camel Weight Competition and Camel Beauty Competition organized at UAF on World Camel Day. On the occasion of World Camel Day, camel weight and beauty contests, seminars, walks and other activities were organized at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

In the camel fair organized by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Directorate of Farms and the International Organization for Sheep, Goats and Livestock, in terms of weight, Farrukh Ijaz’s camel from Gujranwala won the first position with a weight of 1417 kilograms, while Farrukh Ijaz’s camel won the second position with a weight of 1361 kilograms and Babar Malik’s camel won the third position with a weight of 1280 kilograms. In the camel beauty contest, Huneen’s camel won the first position, Farrukh Ijaz’s camel won the second position and Malik Babar’s camel won the third position.
Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Principal Officer Estate Management, Professor Dr. Qamar Bilal, while addressing the winning camel farmers, said that with the efforts of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, camels of different breeds have been brought here on the occasion of World Camel Day and the general public as well as the teachers and students of the university have got a great opportunity to see their weight and beauty.
He said that the livestock sector will get full benefit from this fair to test and preserve the standards of camel bread and its quality. Dr. Qamar Bilal said that camel meat is low in fat and cholesterol, which is why it can be eaten by patients with high blood pressure and diabetes.
Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, Patron-in-Chief of the International Sheep and Goats Organization, said that his association is adopting the latest standards on scientific grounds to develop and nurture the best breeds of animals and will continue to work with the same determination with institutions like the University of Agriculture to take this journey of development forward in a coordinated manner.
Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed Virk, Atta Muhammad Gujjar and others also spoke on the occasion.
