A major study has been conducted under the guidance of researchers Dr. Hafiz Fasih-ur-Rehman and Prof. Dr. Hafsa Zainab of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore. This research project has been completed with the financial support of the National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
This study used the Nobel Approach of Manufacturing in Nutritional Biotechnology. During the trials of broiler chickens, the effects of two important ingredients, namely Selenium Nanoparticles and Mannan Oligosaccharides, were tested. Broiler chickens were fed these nanoparticles in their diet for 42 days while rearing on a limited area to assess their performance and meat quality.
Research Findings and Benefits of Use of prebiotics in Poultry with selenium
The use of this scientific alternative dietary supplement (Supplementation) has yielded the following very positive results in broiler production:
Improvement in Digestive System: The use of selenium nanoparticles and prebiotics greatly benefits the appetite, digestion and intestinal anatomy and their functions (digestive system) of broilers.
Meat Production and Quality: This alternative dietary method increases the final body weight of chicken chicks and the quality of the meat obtained also becomes excellent, which is more marketable.
Bone and Muscle Strength: This formula also plays a key role in the growth of birds, the durability of bone structure and strengthening of muscles.
Elimination of Heat Stress: According to Dr. Hafiz Fasih-ur-Rehman, this supplementation of Mannan Oligosaccharides helps in eliminating the negative effects caused by extreme heat, which can lead to better broiler production.
