These diseases include Salmonella, Fowl Cholera and Infectious Coryza. These also include Mycoplasma, cocci and aspergillus or brooder pneumonia along with other issues. Besides these diseases, this article also elaborates winter management of poultry and chicken care in cold weather. Furthermore, it will also be helpful for cockatiel winter care and parrot winter care. Besides poultry winter management, these words will also be supportive for pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter.

Pet Birds and Poultry Winter management

Poultry farmers, whether open shed or controlled house, face many challenges in cold climate. Besides the layer and broiler farmers, this weather is also a challenge for house rearing of poultry and pet birds. Not only the birds, but farmers also got affected from these challenges. So it is important to discuss Poultry Winter management along with parrot winter care  and cockatiel winter care. Besides the discussion on chicken care in cold weather, pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter is also important. Furthermore, this is also important for other birds.

So we should have the information about poultry diseases or diseases of birds for effective chicken care in cold weather along with other birds.

Environment  and Winter Management of Poultry

One of the biggest challenges of winter relates to the environment. Birds need an optimal environment for optimal growth. Moreover, it is true both for weight gain or egg production. For effective management, it is necessary to have the best oxygen in the farm or cage. On the other hand, ammonia gas, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide should be in least amount.

Besides this, we should also care for temperature range and humidity ratio. In winter, environmental management is very difficult. To manage this situation, sheds, cages or lofts are moved above minimum ventilation. We keep minimum ventilation to maintain temperature, oxygen levels and humidity. For this purpose, burners or heaters are used. This will help to avoid poultry diseases and diseases of birds.

Poultry Winter management and Bacterial Infections

Another challenge that winter brings is bacterial infection which leads to different poultry diseases and diseases of birds. In winter, there are three to four dangerous bacteria that disturb both birds and poultry. These poultry diseases include Salmonella, Fowl Cholera, Infectious Coryza and Mycoplasma. Respiratory system becomes a lot of problem in winter. Mycoplasma attacks the respiratory tract and lungs.

In case of fowl cholera and infectious Coryza, there is roaring sound from the throat. Besides this, birds sit loosely and stop eating and drinking. Furthermore, there is reduced egg production, reduced weight loss and ultimately increased mortality. On the other hand, in case of Salmonella, birds show fever. Besides this, white or greenish or yellow droppings start to appear. Along with this, the death rate increases.

We need antibiotics to treat these diseases of birds. Experts recommend tylosin for mycoplasma and florfenical for salmonella. On the other hand, they recommend doxycycline along with tylosin for Coryza and fowl cholera.

These medicine are also effective for diseases related to cockatiel winter care, parrot winter care and chicken care in cold weather. In case of pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter, we can also use these medicines. But there is a strong disclaimer in this regard. Never use any type of antibiotic or medicine without the guidance of a qualified veterinary doctor. In fact, you should get vet opinion for the treatment of all poultry diseases or diseases of birds.

Poultry Winter management and Viral Infection

The defense system of the birds in the litter becomes very weak, so the third problem is a viral infection. Cause of viral diseases may be the lack of biosecurity and professional observation. Besides this, lack of necessary vaccinations or weak or down immune system may be the cause. However, it is mandatory to vaccinate the birds to protect from viral infection. It is not the part of poultry winter management only. It is equally important for other birds management including of pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter.

In case of poultry farm, disinfect everything which is coming from outside. In case of pet birds, keep the new bird separate for few days to ensure quarantine. Immune boosters like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium, Paracetamol and Lysozyme should be used with the recommendation of your vet. We should also take care in case of cockatiel winter care and parrot winter care. Management is also important for pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter.

Fungal Infection in Winter

The fourth problem in winter management of poultry or chicken care in cold weather is fungal infection. Aspergillus is first one which is also called brooder pneumonia. Symptoms of aspergillus or brooder pneumonia include open mouth breathing, weakness, poor growth & rise in mortality. This problem is due to poor feeding. Moreover, new bird from market may cause the spread of disease. However, if your birds are exposed to this disease, antifungal drugs are used. So in case of cockatiel winter care, parrot winter care or chicken care in cold weather, we should also care these factors along with for other birds.

Cocci and Winter Management of Poultry and Birds

The fifth and final challenge that presents to bird keepers is related to cocci or bloody diarrhea. Cocci is caused by high humidity and minimum ventilation in the sheds. This condition allows the disease germs to grow. It helps if a healthy bird eats it. Coocci starts to grow inside the intestines, then it spreads rapidly throughout the whole shed. The symptoms of cocci include bloody diarrhea, weakness, off feed birds & rise in mortality.

Winter Management of Poultry and other Birds

All these problems affect the birds more in the winter season. So winter management of poultry and other birds is important. Furthermore, it has also importance for cockatiel winter care and parrot winter care. On the other hand, pigeon care in winter and budgie bird care in winter is also very important. It is also important for If you want to do good farming, then you should keep these types of medicines at your sheds.

These medicines include Immune Booster, Vitamin C, E & Selenium, Liver Tonics, Paracetamol, Antibiotics, Multivitamins & Cough Syrups. Always use these drugs under the instructions of a qualified veterinary doctor. Also, keep a close eye on the birds. Make sure to consult a good and qualified veterinarian or poultry expert once a week.
