PASA Raises Concerns over PVMC Letter on Posts in PFA, Demands Separate Council
The Pakistan Animal Scientists Welfare Association (PASA) has expressed serious reservations over a recent letter issued by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC). The letter demanded the removal of certain academic degrees from a government job advertisement. PASA has demanded the establishment of a Pakistan Animal Science Council (PASC).
Earlier, PVMC objected to posts advertised by the Punjab Food Authority. It stated that only specific, registered veterinary degrees are acceptable for veterinary positions. PVMC asked that “irrelevant” degrees be removed from the advertisement. The council also argued that advertising the post of Veterinary Officer at a lower grade is against professional standards.

In response, PASA President Professor Dr. Muhammad Younas wrote a formal letter to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. In his letter, he described PVMC’s approach as biased and inconsistent. He stated that the advertisement had included graduates of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry, Animal Science, and Poultry Science. According to him, this inclusion was a positive step for thousands of animal production graduates across Pakistan.

The Pakistan Animal Scientists Welfare Association said that the demand to exclude Animal Science and Poultry Science degrees contradicts PVMC’s claim of representing all veterinary and animal science professionals. PASA warned that such actions are negatively affecting the future of animal production graduates.
