Meeting on Meat Sector with Chinese Delegation held at Livestock Department Punjab
An important meeting was held in the Livestock Department on meat sector with a Chinese delegation. Secretary Livestock Punjab Ahmed Aziz Tarar, and CEO PAMCO (Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company) Dr. Noor-ul-Ain Fatima specially attended this meeting.
Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Usman Tahir, senior officers of the Livestock Department, technical experts and representatives of other relevant institutions also attended the meeting.
Various Aspects in Meeting on Meat Sector
During the meeting, various aspects of investment in the livestock sector, use of modern technology, meat processing, meat value addition, promotion of exports and mutual cooperation were discussed in detail. The possibilities of promoting the meat industry in Punjab according to modern and international standards were also reviewed.
Key Initiatives of Livestock Department
Secretary Livestock Ahmed Aziz Tarar, while addressing the meeting, said that the Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive and effective strategy for the development of the livestock and dairy sectors. He said that practical steps are being taken to establish modern slaughterhouses in Punjab province, improve the cold chain system, implement international food safety standards and provide modern meat processing facilities so that Pakistan’s meat exports can increase significantly.

He added that the livestock sector plays a key role in the country’s economy and foreign investment, modern technology and international cooperation in this sector will not only promote the local industry but also improve the economic condition of farmers.
PAMCO Projects for the Meat Sector
Dr. Noor-ul-Ain Fatima, CEO PAMCO, briefed the meeting on the projects of Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company and the ongoing steps for the promotion of the meat industry. She said that international partnership is very important for the promotion of modern meat processing, value addition and exports.
The Chinese delegation expressed deep interest in the livestock sector of Punjab and expressed its willingness to increase cooperation in the areas of meat processing, breed improvement, animal health, veterinary services, modern farming technologies and cold chain management.

The delegation appreciated the initiatives of the Punjab Government and the Livestock Department and positively discussed the possibilities of joint projects and technical collaboration in the future.

The meeting also considered various proposals related to disease prevention, animal traceability, cold storage, food safety, export standards and increasing the capacity of the meat industry according to the needs of the global market.
On this occasion, both sides expressed their determination to further promote joint investment and cooperation in the livestock sector.
