UVAS Lahore arranged a consultative colloquy on Biological Production. Besides this, IPO patent award ceremony was also the part of the activity. CEO DRAP Asim Rauf as well as Chairman Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan Farrukh Amil attended the ceremony. Secretary Livestock Masood Anwar along with Prof. Talat Naseer Pasha were also present. Participants discussed the DRAP licensing and DRAP registration process for veterinary vaccines in addition to other products. Prof. Pasha suggested encouraging the indigenous production of veterinary vaccines. Other stakeholders also put suggestions. Secretary Livestock suggested creating awareness regarding DRAP registration process. Furthermore, he emphasized that campaign should be in simple language.
Vice Chancellor UVAS Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad lauded the role & efforts of IPO Pakistan. IPO sensitized UVAS researchers regarding intellectual property. This organization organized different workshops, seminars and interactive sessions for this purpose. Furthermore, Vice Chancellor informed the participants of meeting that UVAS had received two patents. In addition to this, 10 more IPO patent were in process, he added.
First patent is on “a pharmaceutical composition of polymeric biodegradable film for diabetics wound healing”. Dr. Irfan Siddique of Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences developed it. Second patent is on “Process for the preparation of buffalo semen extending medium by using buffalo whole milk”. Prof Amjed Riaz of the Department of Theriogenology secured it.
