Care Hub Foundation by Freeha observed World Protein Day. WPSA Pakistan Branch Women Wing also collaborated. They spent a day with school children in Karachi. Experts highlighted the importance of protein for children and protein balanced diet. Moreover, they also focused on protein importance for mothers. Furthermore, they highlighted different aspects of protein deficiency and malnutrition in Pakistan. Dr. Fareeha Talha and others linked these issues with health problems and stunted growth. Her foundation is working on a school protein lunch.

Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro, Dr Benazir Kanwal, Dr Sumaira, and Dr. Talha Khalid spoke at the occasion. President DCFA Pakistan Shakir Umar Gujjar also joined. Speakers educated the children and mothers on the usage of protein in their diets and the importance of protein. Furthermore, they especially focused on the importance of protein in a balanced diet for mothers and children. Besides this, they elaborated on the different ways to make the diet balanced. Besides Urdu, they used the Sindhi Language for clear communication.

World Protein Day is celebrated on 27th February. The purpose is to highlight the significance of protein for health and growth. Furthermore, it also raises awareness of protein deficiency and malnutrition.

Importance of Protein and Malnutrition in Pakistan

Protein is an important part of a basic diet. On the other hand, one billion people worldwide suffer from protein deficiency. Central Africa and South Asia have this problem especially. In these regions, 30 percent of children consume a protein deficient diet. On the other hand, the Situation is drastic in the case of Pakistan.

The issue of malnutrition in Pakistan is complex. It relates to different aspects. Furthermore, this situation raises many problems including micronutrients, protein, and energy deficiencies. Moreover, this is also the cause of many diseases and health issues including stunted growth. Besides this, poor diets, poor quality foods, and low physical activity are also contributing to health issues.

Importance of Protein and School Children

Protein is highly important for children. They must take a protein balanced diet. Poultry products like chicken meat and eggs are the cheapest source of protein. Care Hub Foundation is focusing on this. The organization will work on the school PROTEIN LUNCH. Initially, the organization will focus on the lower classes. This will also collaborate with medical professionals including neurologists for the routine checkup of students. Moreover, the school protein lunch will include drum drumsticks, milk, and eggs.

Who is Dr. Fareeha Talha

Dr. Fareeha Talha is the President WPSA Women Wing Pakistan Branch. Besides this, she is also Vice President WPSA Pakistan Branch. Moreover, she is the Group leader for the WPSA working group on consumer education and awareness. On the other hand, she received the PRIDE OF PAKISTAN Award. Besides this, she was the nominee and finalist of the INTERNATIONAL FOODFLUENCER AWARD 2023.
