Stunted Growth in Pakistan and Role of Livestock – Quality Milk and Natural Food
Stunted Growth is the major issue in Pakistan. | وزیرِ اعظم کی تقاریراور سٹنٹڈ گروتھ | Lack of food, repeated attacks of diseases and dirt lead to a decrease in the growth and development of children. Children up to the age of five are victims. If the mother does not get food, the child can be affected even before birth. Affected children are surrounded by various diseases, where they are unable to perform properly in life matters and especially in studies. The Situation of Stunted Growth in Pakistan
According to a report, 44 percent of children in Pakistan are stunted. One reason is the same poverty and backwardness that in many places there is nothing to eat. Due to food shortage, the body does not get food, which affects the growth of these children. Similarly, lack of food in the mother creates problems for the future child. Along with food shortage, dirt and poor medical facilities are also the main reasons for this problem.
Food Quality Is Also an Important Issue
Apart from food shortage, food quality is also an important problem. The doctor says that the mother is weak, give her juice etc. Now a box is taken out of the glass refrigerator for juice, on which a picture of a mango or an apple is made. Now the important thing is whether the drink in this box is made from real mango, apple, grape, peach, guava or the result of some scientific feat.
Fake Food Has Become the Nation’s Fate
Well, fake juice, fake drinks, fake jam, fake ketchup, fake milk, fake yogurt, fake ice cream, fake milk sweets, fake milk bakery, all this has become the fate of this nation. This is everything that children and adults eat. Then adulterated chillies, flour, spices, pulses. The actions that are beyond humanity are different, that it would be a human being who supplies donkey meat, and that person would also have the ability to think and understand, who buys it and cooks it and offers it to humans with his own hands.
When Natural Food Was Our Way of Life
Those were good times when we were not victims of inferiority complex. We used to feed our children what we used to eat, that is, natural food. Mother’s milk, which has no substitute, would have become forbidden for a woman to live without. When the child grew up a little, we gave him a piece of bread, put some rice on a plate and gave him a small spoon in his hand. We gave him a piece of fruit so that he sucked it gently. We made a milkshake of banana, apple, mango. We cooked khichdi or served it with oatmeal. We gave carrot juice, malt juice, musmi juice, all these to the children.
Now the nation has been terrorized and children have been put on artificial foods. Various items in beautiful packaging and then announcements of fear and then blackmailing, this mafia made the life of the white-clad people unbearable. Ironically, they are not only destroying their own generations but also the economic system of the house.
From Natural Milk to Fake Milk
Milk was the basic need of every house. Even if the flour in the house runs out, there is no question of running out of milk. If they were to beg, the milkman’s life would be made forbidden the next day. Whether the bread is cooked or not, the child’s feeder would definitely be made. This feeder would contain natural milk from cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats, camels, etc. The milkman would also adulterate, but mostly with water or ice. Now this feeder too started being filled with poison, that is, milk in which there is no idea of cow or buffalo. Fake milk or milk made from substandard powder became our and our children’s sanctuary.

The Way Forward to stop Stunted Growth
If we want to stop Stunted Growth, this government should do two things, one is to hand over the Food Authority to an officer like Ayesha Mamta Zia for five years and give her a free hand. The second thing is to focus on the livestock sector. Our children need milk, meat and eggs, not formulas, and for this, no big plan is needed, just focus on the already existing natural system and take steps for its survival.
The government has to make the livestock sector a priority, which unfortunately no government has ever done. Remember that milk is the basic food of our children and problems like Stunted Growth cannot be solved until children are provided with quality and genuine milk. To provide genuine milk, we will have to go to the grassroots level and for this, we will have to crack down on substandard dried milk from outside that reaches Pakistan through various means, and fake milk that is produced in Pakistan in various forms, and ban it. The reduction in counterfeit milk will increase demand for real milk, encourage livestock farmers, and strengthen the livestock sector as a whole.

ایک تقریر جس کے سحر سے ابھی قوم نکلی نہیں اور پھر ایک دوسری حوصلہ افزا تقریر، اور وزیرِ اعظم کی دونوں تقریروں میں Stunted Growth کا ذکر۔ خوراک کی کمی، بار بار بیماریوں کے حملوں اور گندگی کے باعث بچوں کی نشوونما اور بڑھوتری میں کمی آ جاتی ہے۔ پانچ سال تک کے بچے شکار ہوتے ہیں۔ ماں کو اگر خوراک نہ ملے تو بچہ پیدائش سے پہلے بھی مبتلا ہو سکتا ہے۔متاثرہ بچے جہاں مختلف بیماریوں میں گھرے رہتے ہیں وہاں زندگی کے معاملات اور خاص طور پر پڑھائی میں صحیح کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ بھی نہیں کرپاتے ۔ اس Stuntingکا اثرزندگی کے دیگر مراحل پر بھی مختلف بیماریوں اور پیچیدگیوں کے ساتھ ساتھ ناقص کارکردگی کی شکل میں نظر آتا ہے۔
ایک رپورٹ کے مطابق پاکستان میں 44فیصد بچے Stunted ہیں۔ وجہ ایک تو وہی غربت اور پسماندگی کہ کئی جگہوں پر کھانے کو کچھ ہی نہیں ۔ خوراک کی قلت سے جسم کو غذا نہیں ملتی جس سے ان بچوں کی نشوونما متاثر ہوتی ہے۔ اسی طرح ماں میں غذا کی کمی، آنے والے بچے کے لئے مسائل پیدا کرتی ہے۔ خوراک کی کمی کے ساتھ ساتھ گندگی اور علاج معالجے کی ناقص سہولیات بھی اس مسئلے کی بنیادی وجوہات ہیں۔
خوراک کی کمی سے ہٹ کر خوراک کی کوالٹی بھی ایک اہم مسئلہ ہے۔ ڈاکٹر کہتی ہے کہ ماں کو کمزوری ہے ، اسے جوس وغیرہ پلائیں۔ اب جوس کے لئے شیشے کی فرج سے ایک ڈبہ نکالا جاتاہے جس پرآم یا سیب کی تصویر بنی ہوتی ہے۔ اب اہم بات یہ ہے کہ اس ڈبے میں موجود مشروب کیا اصلی آم ، سیب، انگور، آڑو، امرود سے بنایا گیا ہے یا سائنس کے کسی کارنامے کا نتیجہ ہے۔
خیر جعلی جوس، جعلی مشروبات، جعلی جام، جعلی کیچپ، جعلی دودھ،جعلی دہی، جعلی آئس کریم، جعلی دودھ کی مٹھائیاں ، جعلی دودھ کی بیکری ، یہ سب مقد ر بن چکا ہے اس قوم کا۔ یہ وہ سب کچھ ہے جو بچے بھی کھاتے ہیں اور بڑے بھی ۔ پھر ملاوٹ شدہ مرچیں، آٹا،مصالحے، دالیں ۔ انسانیت سے گری حرکتیں الگ کہ وہ ایک انسان ہی ہو گا جو گدھے کا گوشت سپلائی کرتا ہے، اور اس شخص میں بھی دماغ سوچنے سمجھنے کی صلاحیت والا ہی ہو گا جو اسے خریدتا ہے اورپکا کر اپنے ہاتھوں سے انسانوں کو پیش کرتا ہے۔
وہ دور اچھا تھا جب ہم احساسِ کمتری کا شکا رنہیں تھے۔ بچوں کو وہی کھلاتے تھے جو ہم کھاتے تھے، یعنی قدرتی خوراک۔ ماں کا دودھ جس کا کوئی نعم البدل ہی نہیں، اس سے بھاگنے والی عورت کے لئے تو جینا حرام ہو جاتا۔ تھوڑا بڑا ہوا تو بچے کو روٹی کا ٹکرا پکڑا دیا، تھوڑے چاول پلیٹ میں ڈال کر چھوٹا چمچ ہاتھ میں دے دیا۔ کسی پھل کا ٹکرا پکڑا دیا کہ ہلکا ہلکا چوستا رہے۔ ملک شیک بنا دیا کیلے، سیب ،آم کا۔ کھچڑی پکالی یا دلیا چڑھا لیا ۔ گاجر کا جوس، مالٹے کا جوس، مسمی کا جوس، یہ سب بچوں کو دیتے تھے۔ اب قوم کو ڈرمیں مبتلا کر کے بچوں کو مصنوعی خوراکوں پر لگا دیاگیا۔ خوبصورت پیکنگ میں موجود طرح طرح کی اشیاء اور پھر خوف کے اعلانات اور پھر بلیک میلنگ، سفید پوش کی زندگی اجیرن بنا دی اس مافیا نے ۔ ستم ظریفی کہ نہ صرف اپنی نسلوں کو تباہ کر رہے ہیں بلکہ گھر کے معاشی سسٹم کو بھی۔
دودھ ہر گھر کی بنیادی ضرورت تھی۔ گھر میں آٹا چاہے ختم ہو جائے مگر دودھ کے ختم ہونے کا سوال ہی پیدا نہیں ہوتا۔ ناغہ کرنے پر اگلے دن دودھی کی زندگی حرام بنا دی جاتی۔ روٹی پکے یا نہ پکے، بچے کا فیڈر ضرور بنتا۔اس فیڈ ر میں گائے بھینس، بھیڑ، بکری، اونٹنی وغیرہ کا قدرتی دودھ ہوتا ۔ دودھی ملاوٹ بھی کرتا مگر زیادہ سے زیادہ پانی کی یا برف کی۔ اب اس فیڈر میں بھی زہر بھری جانے لگی یعنی وہ دودھ جس میں گائے بھینس کا تصور ہی نہیں۔ جعلی دودھ یا غیر معیاری پاؤڈر سے بنا دودھ ہمارا اور ہمارے بچوں کا مقد بن گیا۔
Stunted Growthکو روکنا ہے تو دو کام کر لے یہ گورنمنٹ، ایک تو یہ کہ پانچ سال کے لئے فوڈ اتھارٹی عائشہ ممتا زیا اس جیسے کسی افسر کے حوالے کر ے اور اسے فری ہینڈ دے ۔دوسراکام یہ کہ لائیوسٹاک سیکٹر پر توجہ دے۔ فارمولے نہیں بلکہ دودھ، گوشت اور انڈوں کی ضرورت ہے ہمارے بچوں کو اور اس کے لئے کسی بڑے منصوبے کی ضرورت نہیں کہ پہلے سے موجود قدرتی نظام پر صرف توجہ دینی ہے اور اس کی بقا کے لئے اقدامات اٹھانے ہیں۔ حکومت کو لائیوسٹاک سیکٹر کو ترجیح بنانا ہوگا جو کہ بدقسمتی سے کسی بھی حکومت کی کبھی بھی نہیں رہا۔ یاد رکھیں کہ دودھ ہمارے بچوں کی بنیادی خوراک ہے اور Stutnted Growthجیسے مسائل اس وقت تک حل نہیں ہو سکتے جب تک بچوں کو معیاری اور اصلی دودھ فراہم نہیں کیا جائے گا۔ اصلی دودھ کی فراہمی کے لئے بنیاد پر جانا ہو گا اور اس کے لئے باہر سے غیر معیاری سوکھا دودھ جو مختلف طریقوں سے پاکستان میں پہنچتا ہے،اور پاکستان میں مختلف شکلوں میں جو جعلی دودھ تیار ہوتا ہے ، اس پر کریک ڈاؤن کرتے ہوئے پابندی لگانا ہو گی۔ جعلی دودھ کی کمی سے اصلی دودھ کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہوگا، جانور پالنے والے کو حوصلہ ملے گا اور مجموعی طور پر لائیوسٹاک سیکٹر کو تقویت ملے گی۔
