This animal is constantly ignored by the public as well as the government. On the other hand, it becomes the center of attention only on Eid-ul-Adha. This animal produces in hot sands, regardless of the lack of food, water, and extreme heat. Rapidly increasing world population and food problems, this animal is taking the status of food security animal.  On the other hand, it has a special place in Arab sports and our festivals.

Production Potential of Camel

Camels can produce better in exchange for meager food in harsh conditions. Interestingly, if there is less water to drink, there will be more milk production. This has the highest ability to fight against drought. Besides this, it has strong immunity against diseases and no fear of long journeys without food and water. Camel is an example of discipline and obedience.

Importance of Camel Milk and Importance of Camel Meat

The world is focusing on the Importance of Camel Milk as well as Importance of Camel Meat. Camel Milk is effective for diabetic patients due to the presence of natural insulin-like factors. Furthermore, its milk is rich in salts and vitamin C. On the other hand, camel meat has a unique salty taste along with low cholesterol. Its milk and meat have medicinal value. There are several research works on the importance of camel milk and importance of camel meat.

Importance of Camel Population in Pakistan

There are two different types of camels; A plains dweller with one hump and a mountain dweller with two humps. The largest number of camels in the world is in Africa, further in Asia and then Australia. If we talk about Asia, 70% of the camels found here belong to Pakistan and India.

According to the Economic Survey of Pakistan, we have more than one million camels. Most of this camel population in Pakistan belongs to Balochistan. Unfortunately, the government never paid special attention to this aspect. On the other hand, this poor noble animal remained hidden from the eyes of the industry. If we pay even a little attention to this valuable asset, we can make a name in the world by exporting live animals.

There are more than twenty-one camel breeds in Pakistan. It is the need of time to protect them. However, we have to work on the breeding of camels and the management of camels. Arabs are focusing on the research on camels but in Pakistan, it need special attention.

When a big company in Dubai needed a manager for its modern camel farm, four people around the world were shortlisted for an interview. Dr. Abdulraziq Kakar, a camel expert from Pakistan was selected. Along with Dr. Kakar, Prof. Camel Veterinarian Prof. Dr. Mumtaz, Prof. Dr. Anas Sarwar Qureshi, Prof. Dr. Jamil Dhanani, Prof. Dr. Bakht Bidar Khan, Prof. Dr. Younis, Prof. Dr. Ashraf, Dr. Riaz Pasha, Dr. Kamran, and Dr. Asim Faraz are the renowned camel scientists in Pakistan.

World Camel Day

Camel Association of Pakistan organized the Camel Symposium and other events in Pakistan. It also celebrates World Camel Day. This day is 22 June. Dr. Abdul Raziq Kakarl along with other generated the idea of this day in Pakistan.

Private industry should come forward along with the government. The government should provide funds and opportunities to researchers. Furthermore, the government should facilitate investors to set up commercial camel farms.
