The Faculty of Veterinary Science UVAS Lahore is the leading and main faculty of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. It is playing a primary and historical role in the advancement of veterinary education and research in Pakistan. The history of this faculty moves parallel with the history of UVAS. Over the journey of more than 140 years, the subject of veterinary science remained part of this institution. With the transformation from college to University, the department turned into faculty with its basic degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is the main of the Faculty of Veterinary Science UVAS Lahore. It is the historical degree of UVAS. This is the symbol of this faculty and University. With historical transformation in various phases, this is now a five-year degree program. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is one of the worth full degrees in the field of medical sciences in Pakistan. On the other hand, it is one of the leading degrees in the world. A Graduate of this degree is a qualified Vet having expertise in the treatment, surgery, and management of all types of animals and birds.
Clinical Departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Science
Department of Veterinary Medicine
The Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Faculty of Veterinary Science UVAS Lahore is the hub of teaching, research, and services related to veterinary clinical sciences. This department focuses on the clinical education of veterinary students and clinical research both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Besides education and research in the field of veterinary medicine, it also oversees various facilities to provide services to the animals. These facilities include the Outdoor Hospital, UVAS Extension Service, Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, Veterinary Outreach Centre, and the Equine Diagnostic Laboratory.
Department of Veterinary Surgery
The Department of Veterinary Surgery is dedicated to training students in advanced surgical techniques and research at the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and postgraduate level. It also has the Facilities to offer surgical services for the animals and training of the students. The department offers the services of veterinary surgery at the Surgery Clinic and Surgery Teaching Hospital. The department also collaborates with Equine Diagnostic Lab and UVAS 24/7 Services. The main objective of this department is the production of skilled veterinary surgeons and practitioners.
Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences
Historically this department is the oldest veterinary teaching hospital in Asia. It was developed as a Dog Hospital in 1882. Now it is the department with state-of-the-art facilities for pets. This is the most advanced and well-renowned pet healthcare facility in Pakistan. It offers comprehensive services for small animals, avian species, wildlife, and exotic animals. Facilities include specialized hospitals for cats and dogs, pet surgery, emergency and critical care, endoscopy, digital radiography, color Doppler ultrasonography, ECG, and chemotherapy for cancer patients. The Department also has a Pet breeding and training Centre.
Department of Theriogenology
This department has historically offered services in the field of animal reproduction. The Department of Faculty of Veterinary Science UVAS Lahore specializes in veterinary obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biotechnologies. The primary objective of the department is the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students along with research in the field of theriogenology. Moreover, the department offers clinical, diagnostic, and management services to the farmers. The department offers its services at theriogenology clinic, theriogenology teaching hospital, and theriogenology lab. The department also offers training and services in reproductive ultrasonography and artificial insemination.

Institute of Microbiology
Besides offering courses in microbiology for various degrees, this institute is also offering undergraduate programs in Applied Microbiology and Medical Lab Technology. Moreover, it also offers diagnostic services through its highly advanced laboratories. The institute also has a Biosafety level 3 lab.
Department of Parasitology
This department has put its efforts over the years to control parasitic diseases in animals through education, research, and diagnostic services. This department offers undergraduate courses and postgraduate programs. It also offers diagnostic services for parasitic diseases.
Department of Pathology
This is the important department that bridges the basic sciences with clinical sciences. It provides education and research opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students in pathological disease diagnosis of all types of animals including livestock and poultry. Department of Pathology specializes in diagnostic pathology, molecular pathogenesis, clinical pathology, and poultry pathology. It also provides routine diagnostic services and advanced diagnostic services including postmortem examinations and advisory services.
Department of Epidemiology & Public Health
The focus of this department University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore is on animal and public health. It is working on one health through education and research. The department has research priorities for infectious and noninfectious diseases of humans and animals, especially of Zoonotic importance. It also focuses on the epidemiological surveys of various diseases in livestock.

Treatment Services for Animals
Faculty provides services of treatment and diagnosis at its outdoor clinic at the city campus and veterinary teaching hospital at Ravi campus Pattoki of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore.
Surgery for Animals
Department of Surgery offers the services of all types of surgical procures including orthopedic surgery for animals. These services are available at the surgery clinic in the city campus and the Surgery Teaching Hospital at Ravi Campus Pattoki.
Services related to Reproduction
Theriogenology Department offers services related to reproduction in animals at the City Campus and Ravi Campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. These services include management, treatment, and diagnosis including ultrasound, pregnancy diagnosis, and artificial insemination.
Furriery & Forge Services
Department of Surgery manages and treats foot and hoof problems in animals, providing curative shoeing for various problems.
UVAS 24/7 Extension Service
University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore offers services to the farmers outside the university in specific area under UVAS 24/7 Extension Services. Department of Medicine and Department of Surgery provide services in this program. Besides medical services, it also covers training programs for the farmers.
Diagnostic Services at Faculty of Veterinary Science UVAS
University Diagnostic Laboratory (UDL)
UDL, is an ISO 17025-accredited veterinary diagnostic lab. It is also working under the Institute of Microbiology. It offers services for the lab-based diagnosis of various diseases in animals (livestock, pets, and Poultry) using advanced diagnostic tools.
Quality Operations Laboratory
This lab is working under the Institute of Microbiology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore. Besides research activities on food safety and pathogens in the food chain, also offers food and milk testing services. It aims to improve food quality through advanced diagnostics and research. This laboratory also provides various products. These include Milk Testing Kit, FMD Vaccine, and HS Vaccine.
Equine Diagnostic Laboratory
This lab is working under the Department of Medicine. It offers diagnostic facilities for equine owners at Lahore Race Club.
