Brazilian Cattle Breeds in Pakistan
Pakistan has recently imported Brazilian Cattle Breeds. These Brazilian Cow Breeds include Red Sindhi Cattle, Gir Cattle, Girolando Cattle, Nelore Cattle and Guzera Cattle (Guzerat Cattle Breed), Angus Cattle, Brahman Cattle and Wagyu Cattle. The import of these Brazilian Cattle Breeds is for the genetic improvement of local herd in Pakistan. Pakistan will produce the semen and embryos of these Brazilian Cows for genetic improvement. Besides Beef Cattle Breeds, these are also dairy breeds. This is a project of the Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative under SIFC.

Brazilian Cattle Breeds
Brazil is the second largest country concerning cattle population. Moreover, it has the largest commercial cattle herd of beef cattle breeds and dairy breeds. On the other hand, it is the largest beef exporter in the world. Brazil is famous for its cattle breeds including beef cattle breeds. Brazil imported different cattle breeds in the 20th Century from South Asia and other regions and now has genetically superior herds. Brazilian Cattle Breeds include both dairy and beef breeds.

Red Sindhi Cattle Breed
The Red Sindhi cattle breed is a renowned breed in Pakistan. It belongs to the Sindh District. It is a highly heat-resistant dairy breed. Brazil imported Red Sindhi Cattle first in 1930 and then in 1952. Now Brazil has a Red Sindhi cattle herd with improved genetic potential. This cow has a dark red to brown body color.

Gir Cattle Breed or Gyr Cattle
The Gir cattle breed is the dairy breed of Brazil. It has Indian origin and is named after the Gir Forest of Gujrat in India. Its color ranges from red through yellow to white. Moreover, the coat color of Gir cattle may also be speckled red. On the other hand, this breed is famous for tolerating stress. It is resistant to harsh conditions. Moreover, Gir Cattle can produce even on low-quality feed. It requires less nutrition. Besides this, this cow is also resistant to parasites. Brazil imported this breed in 1960 from India.
Girolando Cattle Breed
Girolando cattle breed is the cross of the Gir cow and the Holstein cow. It is the major dairy breed of Brazil and produces 80% of milk in Brazil. Furthermore, the body color of Girolando cattle is black or black and white. On the other hand, Its color depends upon the percentage of the cross. Brazilian farmers started the crossbreeding of Gir in 1940. In 1989, Brazil drafted the standards for Girolando cattle.
Nelore Cattle Breed
Nelore Cattle was brought to Brazil from India. It is resistant to high temperatures. Its first pair reached Brazil in 1868. Later Brazil imported 100 cows in 1960 for breeding. The Nelore Cattle Breed of Brazil is a hardy breed that can adapt to every climate except extreme cold weather. Moreover, it can survive on low-quality feed. Calf of Nelore Cattle can survive without human handling. Besides this, it is also resistant to various diseases and parasites. It is basically meat purpose.

The name of this breed is after Nellore District of India which is in Andhra Pradesh. This white color breed has a large hump and long legs. Its ears are the shortest among the humped cattle. Moreover, Nelore Cow has thick horns pointed up or slightly curved at the tip. Its naturally polled strain also exists. Besides this, the polled strain of the Nelore Cow Breed is genetically dominant.
Guzera Cow or Guzerat Cattle Breed
Guzera cattle is the cross of the Kankrej and Taurine Cow, a local breed of Brazil. This Guzera Cattle Breed is basically a beef breed but it has also a dual-purpose line. Guzera Cattle has a short broad face. Moreover, Ears are long and drooping. These are light grey animals. Furthermore, the color of Guzera Cattle becomes darker with maturity. On the other hand, bulls have darker color as compared to cows. The Barrel of the body is lighter as compared to the overall body.

Angus Cattle Breed
Angus cattle which is also called Aberdeen Angus is the most famous beef breed in the world. This is the small cattle for beef. It has a black color or red color, black is dominant. On the other hand, udder may appear white occasionally. Male Angus is 1000 Kg while the female is 650 Kg. Angus cattle breed is naturally polled. Its meat is famous for its taste. It is basically a Scottish breed that was imported by many countries. On the other hand, Brazil also worked on the Angus Cattle breed for more than 100 years. Angus cattle are resistant to harsh environment. It gives a high carcass yield.
Brahman Cattle Breed
The Brahman cattle breed is of Indian Origin. It is also famous among the beef cattle breeds. America started work on it in 1885 and now it is also a American Brahman. Brahman Cattle is heat resistant and humidity resistant. It is also resistant to parasites. This is basically meat purpose breed. Its color varies from light grey to almost black. Most of the time, the color is light to medium grey. Furthermore, mature bulls of Brahman Cattle Breed are darker than cows.

Wagyu Cattle Breed
Wagyu cattle is a Japanese breed. Its meat is famous among beef cattle breeds. From Japan, Wagyu cattle was exported to the USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and other countries. It is famous for its meat quality. Moreover, the meat of the Wagyu cattle breed has the characteristics of marbling. Furthermore, its meat is expensive and tastiest in the world. on the other hand, Wagyu cattle has black or red coat with straight horns. Horns may slightly curving forward.
