Scientists achieved the first pregnancy in buffalo through in-vitro embryo production in Pakistan. In-Vitro Buffalo Embryo through Successful Embryo Transfer in Buffalo or IVF in Buffalo. Chinese company is working on buffalo breeding. They will export embryo from Pakistan. They have also developed a farm of buffalo in Sheikhupura.

Scientists of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Royal Group China (RGC) achieved the first successful pregnancy under a collaborative research project on In-vitro Embryo Production, Vitrification and Transfer in Nili-Ravi Buffalo.
The in-vitro embryos of buffalo were produced by RGC and transferred into recipient buffaloes by PARC scientists.

Chairman PARC, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, termed this achievement a major breakthrough for Pakistan’s livestock sector. He said that the technology would accelerate genetic improvement by enabling the production of large numbers of high-quality embryos from genetically superior buffaloes.
Dr. Murtaza Andrabi, Director of the Animal Sciences Institute, NARC-PARC, said that the technology was provided by RCBP Pakistan, a subsidiary of RGC, while embryo production and transfer activities were carried out jointly by teams from both organizations.
Mr. Qin Junjie, Director Overseas Business, RGC, said that China believes in a policy of shared future. Royal Group intends to use its IVF technology on a larger scale for the genetic improvement of buffaloes in both Pakistan and China.
He appreciated the contributions of Professor Yangqing Lu, Dean of Guangxi University, China; Dr. Shang Jianghua, Director of Guangxi Buffalo Research Institute, China; Dr. Qaisar Shahzad, Technical Manager, RCBP; and his team including Dr. Muhammad Waqas, Dr. Haider Ali, Amna Hafeez, Shan Zahra, Hadia Awan, and Afifa Tehreem.
The achievement marked the first successful embryo transfer resulting in pregnancy in buffaloes in Pakistan and opened new opportunities for rapid genetic improvement of the country’s buffalo population.
