Brazilian Cattle Breeds reached Pakistan for Livestock Genetic Improvement under SIFC
The consignment of high-producing Brazilian Cattle Breeds reached Pakistan. Nine breeds of these Brazilian Cows and Brazilian Bulls include the Red Sindhi Cattle Breed, Gir Cattle Breed, Girolando Cattle Breed, Nelore Cattle Breed, Guzera Cattle Breed, Angus Cattle Breed, Brahman Cattle Breed, Wagyu Cattle Breed, and Nelore Painted Cattle. These animals have been imported under the SIFC – Special Investment Facilitation Council. Moreover, CEBG of RVFC and Fongrow of Fauji Foundation will work on this. This is the livestock genetic improvement project under GPLI – Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative.

Brazilian Cattle Breeds for Genetic Improvement
These Brazilian Cows and Brazilian Bulls will be kept as a nucleus herd. CEBG (Centre of Excellence for Bovine Genetics), an organization of Pakistan Army’s Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps will work on these animals. Moreover, Fongrow, the project of the Fauji Foundation will also work on the same lines. However, both organizations will work on the semen production and embryo production of these Brazilian Bulls and Brazilian Cows. Furthermore, they will distribute Semen and embryos of these animals for the genetic improvement of local herds. Importantly, these embryos and semen will available to farmers also. This project will focus both on milk and meat production enhancement.

Red Sindhi Cattle Breed, Gir Cattle Breed, and Girolando Cattle Breed are dairy Breeds. On the other hand, the Nelore Cattle Breed, Guzera Cattle Breed, Angus Cattle Breed, Brahman Cattle Breed, and Wagyu Cattle Breed are beef breeds.
These animals of Brazilian Cattle Breeds arrived at Sialkot Airport under SIFC. These are under Quarantine process in Okara, now. Professionals of Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps (RVFC) are taking care of these Brazilian Cows.

Brazilian Cattle Breeds – Background
Red Sindhi is basically a Pakistani cow. Gir and Nelore are also Asian breeds. On the other hand, Guzera is the crossbred of Kankraj and a local breed of Brazil. Besides this, a cross between Holstein and Gir cow is the Girolando. On the other hand, Wagyu is a Japanese cow. Its meat is considered the most expensive and most delicious in the world. These cattle were imported from Asia to Brazil in the early and mid-twentieth century and worked on their genetic potential.

SIFC, CEBG, and Fongrow
SIFC is the Special Investment Facilitation Council. This high-power council is working under the Civil and Military Leadership of Pakistan. It is empowering Pakistan through international and local investment. Moreover, Council provides one window operation along with the ease of doing business. Furthermore, it facilitates the investors for investment in Pakistan. Besides Agriculture and Livestock, this council is also working on Mines and Minerals, Information Technology, Energy, Tourism, and Privatization.
Under the Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative, SIFC is focusing on investment in the livestock sector. The council is facilitating investments in corporate farming, genetic improvement, feeding, and value addition.
