Cash Transactions Still Dominate Livestock Markets

Despite efforts to promote digital payments, cash transactions remained the preferred method of payment in livestock markets during Eid ul Adha 2026.

The State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks introduced mobile ATM vans, online payment facilities, and digital transaction services near livestock markets. However, most buyers and sellers continued to rely on cash for purchasing and selling sacrificial animals.

Industry observers note that while cash remains dominant, the use of banking channels and digital payments has increased significantly compared to previous years.
