In this regard, the National Livestock Show and the traditional Buffalo Fair were also organized magnificently under the Livestock Department, in which fierce competitions in milk production were witnessed among the animals.
Expert Speakers and Researchers
Addressing the Congress, local and international speakers, professors and researchers strongly emphasized that the work of breed improvement in buffaloes has been very slow so far, therefore, it has become imperative to introduce specific genetic technology and commercialize it without wasting any more time.
Experts suggested that scientific methods should be adopted to convert traditional buffalo farming into a modern business model and researchers from different countries should exchange data related to the nutritional requirements of buffaloes so that uniform feeding standards can be developed.
Along with this, the need to strengthen and activate the National Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Control Program was also emphasized to protect livestock from diseases and increase access of meat to the international market.
