A Special Secretary also appointed at Livestock Department; Future of South Punjab Secretariat
Like other departments of the South Punjab Secretariat, a special secretary has also been appointed at the Livestock Department South Punjab. Azfar Zia has taken charge of Special Secretary Livestock South Punjab. On the other hand, the additional charge of Secretary Livestock South Punjab has already been entrusted to Secretary Livestock Punjab.
Special Secretary Livestock South Punjab Azfar Zia presided over the meeting regarding the performance of Livestock Department South Punjab. Deputy Secretary Technical Dr. Sohail Azmat gave a briefing about departmental affairs. Special Secretary Livestock also reviewed the performance of Bahawalpur Division and Cholistan. Further, he visited Livestock Complex Multan and reviewed the departmental activities.

South Punjab Secretariat and Issues
The charge of the secretaries of nine departments of South Punjab was recently handed over to the respective secretaries of Punjab by the Punjab government. Further, special secretaries have been appointed in nine departments of South Punjab. On the other hand, the South Punjab Secretariat is active, while the powers of the Secretary Punjab of a department have also been assigned to the Special Secretary of this department in South Punjab.
Fact Check: Closure of South Punjab
Some quarters are calling these steps as a good strategy to run the departments across the province according to the same policy. While on the other hand, it is also being interpreted as limiting the administrative powers of the South Punjab Secretariat.
Further critics say that the journey towards South Punjab administrative independence which had started now seems to be turning back. Further, various media reports in this regard are also expressing fears of abolishing the Secretariat of South Punjab or further reducing its powers. On the other hand, such concerns have been rejected by the Punjab government, while funds have also been kept for the South Punjab Secretariat in the current financial year.
