GCLI started production of sexed semen of Holstein Friesian bulls imported from USA
Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) has started the production of sexed semen of Holstein Friesian breeding bulls imported from the United States. The highest quality sex sorted semen is being supplied to farmers at very reasonable prices. These views were expressed by the Chief Executive Officer of Green Corporate Livestock Initiative, CEO GCLI, Brig (R) Ehtasham Younis, in an exclusive interview.
Imported Bulls for Sexed Semen of Holstein Friesian
CEO GCLI said that the aim of this project is to provide local dairy farmers with better opportunities to produce female animals with the highest genetic quality so that the overall milk production increases and the economic situation of dairy farmers improves. To provide the highest quality sexed semen, Holstein Friesian bulls with the highest characteristics have been imported from the United States. They belong to the world-renowned organization CRV Genetics. Their TPI is more than 3200. These bulls have outstanding and important characteristics such as high milk production, strong body structure, good health, easy calving ability and long lactation.

Advanced Technology for Sex Sorting of Semen
The Chief Executive Officer GCLI said that the latest technology ST Genetics system has already been installed in Pakistan for the production of sex sorted semen at the local level. This is a state-of-the-art facility of its kind that is enabling the production, processing and packaging of the highest quality sexed semen at the local level. The production of sex sorted semen at the local level will reduce dependence on imported semen, significantly reduce prices and facilitate timely access to farmers in every area.
Importance of Sexed Semen for Farmers
CEO GCLI Brigadier (retd) Ehtasham Younis further said that most of the dairy farmers in Pakistan operate on a small scale. It is difficult for these farmers to purchase sex sorted semen. Cheap and quality sexed semen of Holstein Friesian breeding bulls produced at the local level will not only provide them with high-quality animals but will also significantly increase their daily income. This will result in a strong rural economy and an overall increase in milk production will have significant and positive impacts at the national level. This project will not only improve the economic condition of farmers but will also benefit the national economy.
Sexed Semen of Local and Imported Breeds
He said that along with sexed semen of imported breeds, GCLI is also providing sexed semen of Sahiwal, Cholistani, Red Sindhi, Nili Ravi and other local breeds to preserve and improve the local animal breeds. In addition, sex sorted semen of imported animals of Jersey, Gir, Brahman, Nellore, Angus, Brayford, Shabrae and Veggie breeds is also being provided locally.
CEO GCLI Brigadier (R) Ehtasham Younis said that the organization will continue to work on more genetic improvement projects in the future so that Pakistan’s livestock and dairy sector can develop on modern lines.
