Livestock Department is actively working to provide all possible facilities to the poultry farmers so as to give maximum relief to the people. These views were expressed by Livestock Secretary Punjab Naveed Haider Shirazi while presiding over the meeting regarding poultry industry. The meeting was attended by poultry farmers, stakeholders of poultry association and officers of the department.
Director General Research Dr. Abdul Rahman gave a detailed briefing to the participants of the meeting about the poultry sector of Punjab.

Vice Chairman of Pakistan Poultry Association Northern Region Dr. Abdul Karim Bhatti said on this occasion that 73% of the country’s poultry sector comes from Punjab. Raza Khorsand said that the Department of Livestock plays the role of a mother for the poultry industry.
Livestock Secretary Naveed Haider Shirazi while addressing the participants said that we have to work together to provide relief to the people. The Department of Livestock is providing support to the poultry industry in the form of research, surveillance, evaluation, training and legislation. He further said that the presence of diseases on poultry farms leads to an increase in the prices of poultry products. He said that to facilitate the poultry sector, seven poultry laboratories of Punjab are active which are providing free services to the poultry farmers.
He further said that apart from this, a laboratory has also been established for the analysis of poultry feed under the laws related to poultry. He said that it is essential to prepare local vaccines for all diseases including mycoplasma to control the diseases.
He directed that all the laboratories of the Livestock Department visit five poultry farms on a daily basis and collect samples. Representatives of Poultry Industry, Poultry Association and senior officers of Livestock Department also participated in the meeting.
