Senate Standing Committee passed the Animal Science Council Bill

Significant progress has been made regarding the establishment of the Pakistan Animal Science Council (PASC). The Senate Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research has approved the Pakistan Animal Science Council Bill. The unanimous approval of the bill was given in the meeting chaired by Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan. On the other hand, the bill was introduced in the Senate by Senator Rana Mehmoodul Hassan.

After the establishment of the Pakistan Animal Science Council, there will be regular registration of degrees related to animal science and animal production. The Council will accredit animal science degree-related educational institutions and start registration of graduates. Furthermore, the president and vice president of the council will be elected through election.

The Council will register undergraduate degrees in Animal Husbandry, Animal Science, Agriculture (Animal Science Major), Poultry Science, Dairy Science, and Fisheries. Moreover, the council will also register animal science and animal production-related MPhil and PhD degrees.

Composition of Pakistan Animal Science Council

The Council members will include representatives of various educational institutions as well as representatives of provincial governments. Further, representatives from the private sector, the Animal Husbandry Commissioner’s Office, and the Pakistan Army’s Remount Veterinary and Farmers Corps will also be part of the council. Members of the Pakistan Animal Scientists Welfare Association (PASA) registered under the Society Registration Act in Faisalabad will also join the council.

Prof Dr. Muhammad Younas says that the establishment of the Pakistan Animal Science Council will improve the education related to animal science and animal production in Pakistan. Further, the problems of professionals related to this sector will also be solved. He further said that we have no dispute with any council or institution. We will do our work and not interfere in anyone’s work.
