
Livestock Breed Improvement Project in Sargodha started under Green Pakistan Initiative
Under the Chief of Army Staff’s Green Pakistan Initiative, the Livestock Department and Centre of Excellence for Bovine Genetics (CEBG) have jointly inaugurated a Livestock Breed Improvement Project in Sargodha. Under the National Herd Transformation Drive, Bovine Semen of high-quality animals will be provided.
The ceremony was attended by Commandant Center of Excellence for Bovine Genetics (CEBG) Brig Muhammad Ali Raza, Commandant Remount Depot Sargodha Brig Naimatullah, Commandant Army Veterinary School Brig Tariq, Director Livestock Sargodha Division Dr. Arif Sultan and Additional Director Livestock Sargodha District Dr. Tanveer Ashraf Kaliyar. Farmers were apprised of the benefits of this important program at the ceremony.
Livestock Breed Improvement Project
On the occasion, it was informed that the National Herd Transformation Drive has been launched in Sargodha district. The aim is to convert farmers’ low-yielding animals into high-yielding breeds through improved genetic semen so that milk and meat production can be increased.
Under this project, the Center of Excellence for Bovine Genetics (CEBG) will provide semen of high-quality cattle and buffaloes to farmers through Livestock and Dairy Development, which will strengthen the country’s economy. It was further informed that this project will soon be launched in other districts, where Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs) from across Punjab will participate so that modern facilities can be provided to farmers at their doorsteps.
Moreover, the animal record will be compiled jointly by the Center of Excellence for Bovine Genetics and the Livestock Department, so that the impact of this program can be monitored effectively.
