Pak-Saudi Economic Cooperation and Meat Export Potential for Pakistan

The long-standing relationship between the two countries, based on brotherhood, faith and trust, is now transforming into a new era based on economic cooperation and shared development. These growing Pakistan Saudi Arabia trade relations are creating immense possibilities for both countries in terms of trade, investment and employment opportunities. This Pak-Saudi Economic cooperation will also create opportunities for Halal meat exports from Pakistan, with a special opportunity for Pakistan camel meat export. These views were expressed by Chairman Saifi Group of Companies Nasib Ahmed Saifi in an exclusive discussion.

Nasib Ahmed Saifi said that the recent visit of Prince Mansoor bin Muhammad bin Saad Al Saud and his business delegation to Punjab province is an important development in the relations between the two countries. The warm reception of this visit is proof that Saudi Arabia is serious about opening new avenues of business and trade with Pakistan.

The Pakistani people and business community appreciate this positive step and expect close cooperation in the sectors of meat, agriculture, food processing and industry.

Halal Meat Export Potential of Pakistan and Its Role in Economic Independence

Pak-Saudi Economic Cooperation and Facilities for Trade

He stressed the need to facilitate the flow of goods and services between the two countries. If Saudi Arabia reduces import duties on Pakistani products, Pakistani goods like meat, rice, fruits, vegetables and textiles will become cheaper and more competitive in the Saudi market. The reduction in import taxes will increase Pakistan’s exports while providing quality products to Saudi consumers at reasonable prices.

He also stressed the need for more facilities for the Pakistani business community in Saudi Arabia. If the process of setting up a business, licensing and investment is made easier, joint ventures and long-term partnerships will be possible. These steps will strengthen trade relations between the two countries, create new employment opportunities and increase economic cooperation. This will especially open avenues for Halal meat exports from Pakistan and Pakistan camel meat export sector.

Pakistan Camel Meat Export and Frozen Meat Exports

Nasib Ahmed Saifi further said that Pakistan has a large number of camels and the country has the potential to export high-quality camel meat that meets all halal and food safety standards. If the Saudi government allows the import of camel meat from Pakistan, it will be beneficial for both countries. Along with this, the export of frozen meat should also be allowed. Halal meat exports from Pakistan and Pakistan camel meat export sector can meet the requirements.

Issues of Halal Meat Exports from Pakistan

Nasib Ahmed Saifi said that currently, exporters have to pay the same halal certification fee for each container of meat, even if the weight is different. This system is unfair and increases the cost. The fee should be fixed on the basis of per ton weight so that exports can be made possible at a lower cost and a stable supply of halal meat for Saudi Arabia can be ensured. Nasib Ahmed Saifi said that the high cost of air and sea freight is a major obstacle in exports.

The export of perishable goods like meat, fruits and vegetables becomes difficult due to expensive freight rates. Governments and airlines should reduce freight rates for these products so that Pakistani products are more competitive in the Saudi market.

Relations beyond Pak-Saudi Economic Cooperation

Nasib Ahmed Saifi said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have not only diplomatic but also spiritual relations which are based on faith and trust. If this series of cooperation and facilities continues, both countries will achieve significant achievements in the fields of food security, investment and industrial development.

The friendship between Islamabad and Riyadh is a symbol of the unity of the Muslim Ummah. This relationship will be further strengthened and lead to peace, prosperity and development for both countries.
