Seminar on Milk Safety and Loose Milk
Seminar on milk safety, safety of loose milk and quality assessment of loose milk organized by UVAS. A comprehensive study on the safety and quality aspects of raw milk is the need of the hour. All the institutions should come together and formulate a joint strategy to prevent milk adulteration. These views were expressed by Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Shahabuddin Khan at a seminar held on the safety and quality of raw milk.

The Minister for Livestock termed food safety as one of the major challenges of the present and future. He expressed the hope that the research would help in improving the quality of milk and formulating policies on raw milk adulteration. He said that the livestock sector is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and the Livestock Department is working diligently for the improvement of livestock breeding, better health and prevention of diseases. The seminar was organized by the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, at a local hotel in Lahore.
The seminar was presided over by Provincial Minister for Livestock Punjab, Sardar Shahabuddin Khan. Vice Chancellor Professor Naseem Ahmed, Vice Chancellor University of Education Professor Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor Home Economics University Professor Dr. Kanwal Amin, Director General Punjab Food Authority Mudassar Riyaz Malik and Dr. Sanaullah Iqbal, besides a large number of professionals, researchers, teachers and students from the dairy industry participated.
On this occasion, the efforts of Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed and his team were appreciated, who conducted a comprehensive study on the safety and quality of raw milk and provided technical knowledge through research on the quality of raw milk and its contaminants through day and night efforts.
Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed said that the Veterinary University is providing advisory, extension, diagnostic and consulting services to stakeholders and the community. The university is also conducting various degree programs related to food safety and food security, which will strengthen the food industry in Pakistan. He added that the results obtained from the research will also prove helpful in making better policies.
Earlier, Dr. Azmatullah gave a presentation based on research findings on the safety and quality of raw milk, while Dr. Sanaullah thanked the attendees.
