History of Meat

History of Meat is very old. Meat has historically been a part of human diet. Man has been hunting animals for meat since ancient times. Modern civilization taught him the art of rearing sheep, goats, rabbits and other animals. This art gone through different development phases. Now this has been transformed into a huge industry and trade in today’s world. Nasib Ahmed Saifi, CEO Anis Associates says.

Meat Industry in Pakistan

Nasib Saifi says the meat industry in Pakistan is one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy in Pakistan. Pakistan is among the top 20 countries in global halal meat exports. The meat industry in Pakistan has grown steadily since the 1990s till date. This development mainly came about when the Government of Pakistan started taking interest in expanding livestock production and processing facilities in the region to meet the growing local and global demand.

Moreover, he says considering the average growth of 4.86% since the 1970s till date, the current meat industry of Pakistan is around 5.5 million tons.

Importance of Meat Nutrition

Nasib Ahmed Safi also highlighted the importance of meat nutrition and nutritional value of meat. He says meat is very important for human health. It slowly digests in the stomach. Moreover, Meat contains about 20-30% protein, 7-20% fat and 60-70% water. On the other hand, Nutritional value of meat varies with breed and part of body in same animal. Meat contains essential amino acids for the human body. Fat in meat is a great source of energy that heats up the body. Fat makes meat flavorful and juicy. Up to 90% of the protein in meat is digestible.

Regarding importance of meat, he further says that meat is important for muscle and bone strength. It reduces the chances of anemia. In addition, meat stimulates excretions in the stomach, such as hydrochloric acid, which improves the digestive system.

Nasib Ahmed Saif says along with animal meat, other organs like kidney, kidney, spleen and heart are also very important for human health. Vitamins and salts present in these organs are useful for the body and add value to meat nutrition.

Types of Meat and Meat Nutrition

Red meat, white meat and Light Red Meat are different types of meat. On the other hand, Beef and Mutton are the types of meat on the basis of breed. Nasib Ahmed Safi says currently the most consumed meat in the whole world is calf or cow. This is red meat. A healthy beef animal can weigh up to 450 to 550 kg and about 55 to 60 percent of it is meat.

Along with this, the meat of sheep, goat and camel is also read meat. White meat includes chicken and fish. Light red meat is slightly lighter in color than full red meat and mostly includes poultry such as pheasant, quail, turkey, chicken, turkey, and rabbit. Besides fresh meat, processed meat products are also available in the market in different forms.
