The Importance of Protecting Qurbani Skins

Pakistan faces huge economic losses at the national level every year and the reason for this is that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, only the purchase of the animal, meat and its distribution are given importance and the skins are ignored. Just as sacrifice is an act of worship, the protection of the skin is also an act of worship and it is not only a religious but also a national duty. The skin is the main part of the sacrificial animal and the Sharia aspects of its use require that it is someone’s trust. Therefore, its protection and caution in this regard are very important.

Preventing Damage to the Skin

While removing the skin, it gets cut, which reduces the value of the skin many times. The more cuts there are, the less valuable the skin will be. In this regard, it is important to get the services of an experienced butcher. Since a large number of people in our country still sacrifice the animal themselves, that is why the skin gets cut more often. On this occasion, everyone loves to skin and in this passion, the skin is destroyed.

Proper Preservation of Qurbani Skins

In addition to protecting the skin from cuts, it is also important to protect it from heat, sun and rain. Immediately after skinning, spread it in an open place and sprinkle salt on it from the inside. A large number of skins can be preserved with this small activity, it does not take much time or money. Try to immediately deliver the skin to the person or institution to whom it is to be given so that they can preserve it in their own way. In this regard, it should be remembered that the skin without salt starts to deteriorate after four hours. It should also be taken care of not to put the skin in a plastic bag.

Proper Disposal of Qurbani Waste

Throwing garbage outside the house on the street, roadside or in an empty plot can temporarily save lives, but after some time, its bad smell and the diseases that arise as a result of it affect the person throwing it as well as other people. It is necessary to throw the garbage at a place that has been allocated by the institutions. If it is not possible to throw the garbage yourself, then someone should be talked to before Eid and paid to deliver these garbage to the designated place at the appointed time.

Meat Distribution and Helping the Deserving

The most important aspect after the skin is meat and its distribution. It should be remembered that over time, due to the increase in poverty, where the number of poor people is increasing, the circle of people in white clothes is also increasing. There are many families in our streets and relatives who are not lucky enough to eat meat all year round or eat very little. Unfortunately, there are also families where food is cooked once a day. Such people should be remembered when distributing meat.

If you are able to eat meat all year round, then sacrifice your stomach and tongue on the occasion of Qurbani and instead of filling the refrigerator and freezer, deliver meat to the deserving people so that they can save it and eat it for some time. Similarly, there are many people around us who get the opportunity to eat the animal’s feet only on Eid. Such people should be remembered while giving the head, feet, liver, ojadri, etc., and if someone desires these things, then their feelings should be respected while sacrificing their desire.

Fair Distribution Among Participants

In the case of a share in a sacrifice, the participants should keep in mind mutual respect. The Shariah aspect of this is that the distribution should be on the basis of equality, but if inadvertently there is a difference in some place or a participant desires to take more of a particular part of the meat, then it should not be kept in mind and the purpose of the sacrifice should not be affected by negative thoughts.

Similarly, there are some parts of the animal that cannot be divided equally. For example, if there are seven parts and four feet, then either the feet should be broken and distributed or they should be distributed evenly by mutual consent while tolerating each other.

Safe Consumption and Storage of Meat

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, meat kept in the refrigerator should be removed as soon as possible because due to frequent power outages, the meat keeps freezing and defrosting, which affects the quality of the meat, while eating such meat also causes health problems. On this occasion, one should not eat only meat day and night, but one should make an arrangement such that vegetables are eaten once a day so that the diet is balanced and one does not have to face gastrointestinal diseases.
