Dr. Maqbool Ahmed assumed the charge of the Director Animal Quarantine Department

Dr. Maqbool Ahmed has assumed the charge of the Director Animal Quarantine Department. Animal Quarantine Department is working under the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Its function is to protect the nation from animal diseases transferred due to import or export. Animal Quarantine Office guards entry points and exit points for transboundary animal diseases. Moreover, it also focuses the animal diseases of public health importance. This Department monitors the animals and animal products and byproducts during import and export.

Besides quarantine, this Animal Quarantine Office also offers the services of inspection and certification. Moreover, it also registers the export-oriented animal and animal products establishments. Furthermore, it also offers the services of lab testing for import and export.

AQD has stations in Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Sialkot. It is also establishing stations in Khunjrab, Khokrapar, and Gawadar. Headquarter of AQD is in Karachi. The director Animal Quarantine Department leads this Department.
