Prof Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha appointed as DG PAFDA
Prof Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha has been appointed as Director General of Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority PAFDA. He is the first regular DG PAFDA.
About PAFDA?
PAFDA is the flagship project of the Punjab government. The government has constituted this authority to improve the health and welfare of the people. This authority will ensure the supply of safe food and high-quality medicines for livestock and humans across the province. Moreover, various laboratories will work under the authority which will provide facilities for various tests.

Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority has state-of-the-art BSL-III level laboratories. These laboratories will provide services related to the testing of human and animal drugs, raw and processed foods, agricultural pesticides and fertilizers. More than 23 laboratories of the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture and Food Authority and around 650 employees will also be integrated to this new organization. Along with this, this authority will also recruit 276 professionals. PAFDA will play its role in maintaining high standards of testing and regulation of food, medicine and agriculture inputs in Punjab.
About Prof. Talat Naseer Pasha
Prof. Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha received his PhD from West Virginia University, USA. However, He has over 40 years of experience in teaching, research and administration. He has served as Vice Chancellor of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore and University of Education Lahore. Furthermore, Prof Pasha was the Founder Vice Chancellor of Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur. He has extensive experience in institutional development. He has worked with relevant industry, government, international development agencies and higher education institutions.
Dr. Pasha has supervised 145 MPhil and 29 PhD students. He has published more than 165 research papers in refereed scientific journals. He received fifteen research grants worth Rs 564 million. Prof. Pasha has also worked as a consultant to various organizations including GTZ, SMEDA, US Grain Council, World Bank and IDRC Canada. Additionally, he served as a board member of more than twenty government and semi-government organizations.
In recognition of his outstanding services in education and science, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan awarded him the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2016 and the Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 2023. He also received the Governor’s Certificate of Recognition in 2021 and the Best University Teacher Award from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in 2009.
